John Donahoe- Ebay President - Online Purchasing Stats
Just saw John Donohoe being interviewed On AETN, and took some notes. Here is some interesting stuff you might want to know.
1: Ebay Did 20 Billion Dollars Last Year In MOBILE customers. People are buying from Mobile Phones ALOT.
2: 50% of consumers access the web first to research, before walking into a retail store to make a purchase, out of ten trillion dollars in retail business last year. Many of them through cell phones.
3: The world is becoming a series of screens, from computer, to mobile, to subway signs, to automobiles...people are accustomed to "screens". It is going to become MORE that way. People are living their lives and viewing the world through screens.
4: Mobile has blurred the line between commerce and eCommerce
5. The world thinks of their cells phones as having a mall in their hands now.
6: Customers take control now and play by their own rules, no longer is it "You come into my store and this is what you can and cant do", they access the net and buy however they want to.
7: They dont even stand in lines now...they just order straight from their cell phone on the way and go up to the counter ahead of time, and get their sandwich, they even pay from it ahead of time.
8: Ebay sold 8,000 cars last year to customers accessing from mobile phones.
