Offline/Local Video Marketing

I know there is a variety of ways to create offline videos for clients...

I've done mostly Animoto, and some screen capture...

Animoto doesn't seem to look or convert well for many local markets, or doesn't fit the style or image...

Asking for a bit of guidance as to what platforms/methods convert the best for these type of local business promotion videos.

I can rank videos almost at will, but really want to balance it out with a video that excites the business owner, while converting those the video is intended to reach.

Appreciate all the Warriors here who pour their energy into this forum. You all make such a difference for so many.

If the clients are local, I show up and video the business, interview the owners, and get them to answer questions that customers ask.

These are the videos that really convert into sales for the client.

Animated videos (I use goanimate.com) get he most attention, they really draw the eye. But they don't convert as well to selling.

Videos where someone is drawing what is being said (I forget what they are called...Whiteboard?) are hugely effective. I'm going to be using them a lot more.

The slide show videos are the least effective. I use them for linking purposes.
I also use them when a client needs it done today.

Yes Claude...Animoto turns images into pretty slick videos...with stellar transitions and moves with the music...it's good stuff...and pretty impressive...

Sometimes it doesn't work with certain niches...but definitely good for quick production that looks good.

Good to see how others are taking advantage of video...and the best ways to be effective doing so with our local clients.

I do think the personal elements that you mention Claude, about getting to know their business, and introducing the business on video is great.

Look forward to exploring more ideas.

Then I apologize. I thought Animoto videos were like the ones you get on Fiverr.

But, for local clients, real videos of the owner, staff, and location shoots really get the best results. And you can justify the higher prices.

My clients love the Goanimate.com videos we produce. But they don't translate into sales, just views and comments. But if you can't video on location, it's not a bad substitute.

Product demonstrations are fantastic, if you can video them. Like mini infomercials.
Tours of the business bring in buyers too. But you use what you can.

What niche are you talking about?

Re: GoAnimate, I just wanted to point out that the terms of use are not good for business purposes (unless things have changed in the past six months or so). Use it at your own risk.

Animoto is so limited, I don't bother with it anymore. Instead, I use ProShow Gold for videos that are heavy on photos and light on text. It's far more versatile than Animoto, and you can avoid that recognizable "Animoto look."

Whiteboard videos are the hottest thing, thanks to Sparkol software, but a lot of them look pretty bad. Hire someone who knows what they are doing, or be prepared to spend a lot of hours learning the finer points. A good script is essential for this video style.

I agree that pictures and video footage of a business or product can make the most compelling videos.

I would just stick with power point/ camtasia combo (for PC) or Screenflow and Keynote (for Mac). Answering FAQs is a great way to get targeted traffic, and your client should know a bunch of these just for the asking.

I think it's also better to hi-light a special service or product your client wants to advertise, such as this demo I made for a small pizza place -

And I also think that getting the owner to participate would be good as Claude suggests, but many won't do it - at least at first. At least until you show them some kind of results with these types of videos.

Wow! Now that's a video that sells. Far different from the "Slide show with music" videos I'm used to seeing. Thanks for a great example.

Nice video, Marty. How much do you charge for a video like that?

            Marty,

You did this w/PP and camtasia? Great video. I almost called the number for delivery but Reno may be a bit far .

That is a pretty good video for the pizza place.
Just keep in mind that more and more of these videos are going to be
watched on mobile, so avoid smaller images and text that cant be easily made out.

Nice video Marty! Looks like PP and Camtasia did the trick!

It also looks like ProShow is a better way to go than Animoto. Much more control and versatility. They also have a free 2 week trial.

I'm going to delve into the whiteboard vids...I know there are many sources to get them produced. Some definitely look better than others as Gail said.

I haven't tried to goanimate vids.

Video is awesome my friends. @Claude There are some client types more serious of nature like lawyers, financial, consultants, high end services that don't seem to fit with fast music and exploding images Animoto is limited in how it presents itself, in my experience anyway. I think ProShow will be better in that regard, but probably even better to stick with interview type vids, or commercial type vids for those kind of clients who can educate with a call to action in the video.

Whiteboard could work also. Will be fun to explore and see what works best.

    Appreciate ya'll

        Hey there,

Thank you very much for this thread. I have been creating several videos for our site, and I have only made use of Animoto and Powerpoint slideshows via Camtasia. I like the slideshows and music that Animoto generates. I recently made use of GoAnimate, which, by the way, I think is a great tool for making videos.

I would like to try ProShow, if you believe it to be a great software as well.

Yes animoto has it's limitations but if you use it in conjunction with videospin, you can really improve the quality...Pinnacle VideoSpin - Download

Use this free software to make the video even longer with more slides/photos/own pictures etc.

Get in the mind of the customer. What would you want to see if you were in their shoes? What questions would you want answered? Answer these in the customers shoes and your video will convert better..

As far as forms of video, you can do camtasia screen capture of an informative slideshow where you walk the customer through... Or, you could get a white board and answer the questions/concerns while writing it down on the whiteboard.

Just a few options. Good luck!
