Would like to create my own core story and I've got an idea how it could be put together but need some help especially finding research data. Anyone have any insights?

Thanks.

It depends on the data you are looking for.
The big players will always do the research.
You just have to identify the big players, then you can usually use their search function and do a search for stats or statistics or trends, etc.
Then filter through for whatever you are looking for.

The easiest way to do the research is through the library.

Got there and login and you will see a multitude of research tools that
we use to build core stories for companies.

It's the same tools our researchers use.

I can login from home through my library website and do all the research
      i need.

Yeah, I think people would be amazed at the databases available at the library website. For example, on my library's site you can search ReferenceUSA for all kinds of businesses all day long. Plus the Newspaper Archive, free audiobooks, ebooks, regular books, etc., etc.

Plus, you already paid for it with your taxes. Might as well use it.
