    I'm still considering building my own but if I could find other consultants to share the cost, it would be a better solution. Trying to build one that is as professional and convincing as his is a daunting challenge but I think well worth it in the long run.

    Hi Paul,

    We talked with the BGM folks a couple of years ago, and while we loved (RIP) Chet Holmes, we weren't impressed with the lower staff. In fact, it would have equated to us paying considerable money and doing all the work ourselves. We would be doing the research, etc. It makes more sense to do it yourself.

    Hi Sasha,

    You must be referring to Empire Research Group. Actually I just watched a presentation they gave and the company lost their credibility in my eyes when they mentioned that you should manufacture testimonials for your presentation. I mean, how can you trust a company that tells you to lie to your prospects given the fact that you are one of their prospects? It boggles the mind.

    I talked with a freelancer yesterday about doing the research and putting together the presentation for $15/hour. I'm just not sure how long it would take her but will probably see what she can come up with in a day and go from there.

      Hi Paul,

      We tried this approach and it failed because the end product was basically a bunch of unrelated statistics (and useless ones at that). We paid in excess of $1000 which was essentially wasted money for our client.

      If your $15/hour freelance works out for you, you'll be lucky.

        Ouch. Sorry to hear that but it sounds like maybe you forgot the 3 golden rules...test, test, test. I would give the freelancer a one day test before committing to the project.

    I tried creating one on my own with research help from a college student but didn't get very far with it. Its a big project no doubt.

    I also talked with one woman who worked on creating the core stories for the company Chet Holmes used and she said most companies didn't get the value out of them. That really dissuaded me.

    I would still like to incorporate as much 3rd party research into my sales presentations but am giving up on the idea of creating something as elaborate as Chet used and recommended.
