Every Door Direct Mail - A few questions

Hello Warriors,

I'm trying to get some more information about EDDM (Every Door Direct Mail). This is my first EDDM campaign, and hopefully I get a little guidance from you PROS out there.

Breakdown of what I want to do:

I'll target restaurants. I want to fit 18 coupons from 18 different local businesses on 1 piece of paper, and mail it out using USPS EDDM.

Here are my questions.

What kind of paper should I use?

About how much would it cost to print off 3,400 in full color?

What order should I do things? Prospect until I find 18 people, collect money, use to print ads and mail out?

What can I expect on the response rate? 1%? 10%?

Is there a WSO you can recommend?

Any other info or tips you can give would be appreciated.

Thanks Warriors!

If you still need more, Bob Ross , (who is likely to comment in here) has a solid wso or two about this business.

I would suggest 14pt cardstock, which is a pretty thick paper that has a good shelf life.

About how much would it cost to print off 3,400 in full color?

Depends on the size of postcard you're printing and where you're having it printed. To fit 18 coupons comfortably, you'll need to do it on 8.5x11 or more preferably, 9x12.

If you're printing 3400 from a local printer, expect to probably pay around $800 - $1000 plus tax on something like 10pt paper with glossy coating.

If you print 5,000 (3500 won't be available) from a gang-running online printer like gotprint.com, printplace.com, uprinting.com, you could probably get 5000 9x12's for around $700, on 14pt paper with ultra glossy uv coating (preferred).

Even if you print 5,000, you could simply mail 3400 and distribute the rest.

What order should I do things? Prospect until I find 18 people, collect money, use to print ads and mail out?

Yes but you'll have to figure out design too, so you'll need a good print designer that you can outsource to reliably.

The selling process sounds easy but it takes a little planning and time.

What can I expect on the response rate? 1%? 10%?

Too many variables to make any kind of expectation without seeing what kind of offers are on the card amongst other things.

Any other info or tips you can give would be appreciated.

You're doing something that has the potential to bring you A LOT of success. There's a lot more than meets the eye to this business model.

I would not worry about getting 18 advertisers on your first card, shoot for twelve or so and make sure you're getting a good price per ad space. I could chat all day long about this but the best thing you can do is go out and sell spaces.

        Hey Rob:

I'm curious...are you saying they could be used to outsource the fulfillment, after you sell the spaces to local businesses or do you use them for another purpose and still do your own fulfillment?

        Thx,
        Dave

Listen to Jake (Bob Ross). He has a lot of experience.

I would use a size that stands out. Something like 6.5"x9" to 6.5"x 12". I used a 6.5"x12" for our local campaign.

Check out the case study here. http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...y-results.html

We ran a local EDDM campaign and got about 400 email subscribers that day.

Do you plan on running a campaign for your own business or your clients?

Buy Bob's WSO - use him to print your stuff - get on his forum.
Sounds a little simple - yes but you will be going to "print with eddm college!"

Already own the WSO and we were going to implement this several months ago, but had another program going that was working well.

We now want to re-engage with this as we have an idea for how we want to use it.

      Thx.
