How to get LinkedIn to send you new clients

I've seen this before and it's a good one. Patrick O'Malley reminded me of it in a recent email newsletter (Linkedin Training For Sales & Jobs by Speaker Patrick O'Malley).

First you search LinkedIn groups via Google for your specialty. Let's say you are a web designer in Austin. You might plug this in to Google:

web designer Austin site:linkedin.com/groups/

or

"web designer Austin" needed site:linkedin.com/groups/

Then set up a Google alert with that criteria and get an email update when someone on LinkedIn uses those keywords.

You might be able to do the same within LinkedIn but I find their search engine is not as good as the Goog.

I find the same thing with WF. I get better search results using the Goog like this:

site:warriorforum.com/offline-marketing-discussions/ "handsome and charming Joe Ditzel"

You probably will use different search terms.

maybe I'm missing something, but what do you do once you find someone on linkedin who uses those keywords? I didn't see any info about that on the link that you pasted

Like any search it depends on the keywords. If you plug in "web designer Austin" not all of them will be for clients that need your services. If you use "web designer wanted" or "looking for web design help" you'll get fewer but more specific results.

Then contact those people by getting their company name on LinkedIn, call them up and go from there.
