Simplifying Offline Business

Hey Gents,

I have a directory for contractors in the state of MD. I finally compiled a list of all the Contractors in MD into an excel file. As I go to upload it onto my site, I realize how ******* complicated I make everything.

I have categories for every county ect, ect. My new thought was I am going to delete every category and make one giant category with only two submission packages.

There is a free listing which is just that - free. Than there can be the $10 premium listing. You can do everything else, upload files - all the shiny cool things. This will include putting your business at the top of the listing. I was condiering putting a web design package as well.

For $250 a month I will make you a site on there (make it a subdomain), and give 4 hours of updates a month.

What are your thoughts on all this, gents?

    I think the main concern should be getting traffic to your site.

      Categories should help you get traffic (i.e., it's best if they are keywords). In my part of the world, people search by the service or trade or by city + service or trade. Far fewer searches by county.

      With my directory, there's the option of displaying one client in more than one category. So, give some thought to how where your future clients would like to be shown. Good category names will make it easier to get more money.

    Is there a way to upload all of them at once? I have 1000 plus contractors in my spreadsheet -and I dread manually entering them all.
