Over 100K in clients from a simple LinkedIn lead generation strategy

Last year I generated over 100K just from LinkedIn in Internet Marketing Consulting clients.

I'm going to lay out an entire strategy on how you can easily engage and generate clients on LinkedIn

The strategy starts with the philosophy you have to be a friend before you can have a friend.

Most people on LinkedIn go charging in and try and connect with people and run a promotion strategy that is bordering on spamming people.

Here is a quick screen capture video that I created to show you how easy it is to connect and engage decision makers through LinkedIn.

http://www.makeeverydayapayday.com/c...s-on-linkedin/

Here is the strategy
1. Fill in your profile 100%

2. Don’t fill it in like a resume; fill in your profile with your clients in mind. How do you help people what do you want them to do when they read your profile. Think Key Words Think responsive actions. Treat your profile like a lead generation converting landing page.

3. Use the summery section to let people know how you can help them.

4. Join open groups in the industry niche you want to do business in watch the video above for ideas.

5. If you are a member of an association of your niche then you can join closed groups which are more targeted.

6. When you’re in the group page click on the members tab and go to the search bar on the top left hand corner and type in the title of the decision makers you want to connect with.

7. Think key word title and location “Director Brisbane” “Owner Brisbane” “Director LA” remember there are acres of diamonds in your back yard so start with your location first. You’ll find that you may end up with a list of 20 to sometimes hundreds of contacts.

8. Check the profiles of the search results and see if they are the type of company you want to do business with.

9. Hit the connect button and invite the prospective contact to connect with you (see the instructions in the video above) complement the contact on their website or business or something you read on their profile and ask as a joint member of the group they would like to connect.

10. Ina few days they will accept your connection and may even send you an email introducing themselves to you. (You’ll be notified in your inbox that they have accepted your connection).

11. When that happens I send a brief email introducing myself and I ask a question.

Sample Email:

Hi Bob, Thanks for accepting my invitation to connect I’m doing some research on some of the opinions and challenges that (insert niche industry here) is facing when it comes to marketing your business using the internet.
I’ve listened to several people in the industry and it’s interesting to see what the trends are. I’d like to ask you a small favour? What impact is the internet making on your business?

Or what in your opinion do you think is a frustration or challenge in being effective when it comes to marketing your business online. Just hit the reply button and thank you for taking the time to answer the question. As a courtesy I’ll make sure you get the results of my research.

Some other questions I might ask instead.

From a strategic point of view is the internet changing the way you market your services?

In what ways is the internet changing the way you interact with your customers?

How is your internet marketing strategy helping you communicate engage and service clients better?

NOTE: Try and keep it brief and only ask one question.
The conversion rate to connect is about 90% it’s very high.

NOTE play the numbers game I usually have about 70 to 100 emails out there at any one time.

In my experience I find that the response rate is about 20%
When you receive a reply I usually send an email back to them quickly thanking them and asking permission to give them a quick call to clarify their answer.

The majority email me back with a time GOTYA “GOT YOU” not the singer

CHA CHING Now I have what every Internet Marketing Consultant wants and that is a receptive decision maker on the phone where I can ask questions, add value, build rapport with the natural progression to a consultation on how they can generate and achieve better results with a systematic structured and measurable approach to growing their business.

One of my private mentoring consultants picked up a website redo for a recruitment company for $5800 following this exact process.
NOTE. This is as easy as it gets and the lead generation strategy is at the very low price of FREE.

NO MORE GATE KEEPERS you get direct access to decision makers

TARGET your customers, you can target industry niches, get great research from the discussions, you can see where there are problems and challenges that need solutions?

SIMPLE non-threatening approach

Give it a try and connect with business decision makers in your target market today.

PLAY THE NUMBERS GAME

YOU HAVE TO BE A FRIEND FIRST TO HAVE FRIEND

It would be great if you can post your results on the forum to let others see what can be done to grow your offline business.

Yes. I use almost the same process above, but I automate it (still sends very persnalized message with industry, location, job title, etc.) and gets great results. The key here is you have to be friends with the people you connect with. People on Linkedin are smarter than those on facebook or twitter, so you can't just send blatant spam. Also, get in the mindset of people on linkedin. They want to make more money. If you can either offer them a product or service to help them accomplish that, then you will do well. I also like getting people on linkedin signed up under me as affiliates to promote products on my behalf. Then I can really make some money while I just kick back.

Maricelu, if you have connections and those connections have secondary connections in groups LinkedIn allows you to invite those members to connect without their email address.

If you want to build a spread of connections try the Top Linked group or open networkers group this can create a foundation of connections that you can then leverage into niche groups.

This depends. If someone marks your connect request as 'don't know this person' then after a number of these linkedin will ask you to imput a person's email address on each connection.

Hi Richard I have been on LinkedIn actively for 5 years and i have never once recieved an I Don't Know this person.

The best approach is "To have a friend you have to be a friend first".

Be professional add value and connect ethically and you will have no problems.

      Thanks Hugh,

I think that people make lead generation a lot more complicated than it needs to be.
If you approach people respectfully and take the attitude of I'm here to help rather than I want you to do something for me then the results are very different.

We are bombarded with offers, pitches, spam, Junk, and technology is getting more invasive and cunning with proximity marketing and near field technology that its refreshing when someone approaches you for your opinion and genuinely wants to help.

make sure you fill in your profile as if you were wanting to convert the person reading it into a customer.
DON'T treat it like a resume.
Make sure yo use keywords in your title as LinkedIn give you great SEO juice.

REMEMBER when approaching people in groups make sure you be a friend, add value and engage people by asking 1 question to start the conversation.

Thank you Preeti, Rosie, Cwonsley, Pierre,

A couple of things to remember to make this strategy work well for you.
Make sure you take the time to identify the types of busineesses you want to engage as a client first. Don't go and connect with just anyone. Remember you're trying to build a relationship with the business owner that's going to take a little time. So check out your targeted prospects profile, website, company, team memebers it's all right there in front of you.

Secondly. set a target figure of the number of people you wnt to deliver a presentation or consultation to and work toward achieving that goal.

Remember you have to be a friend first before you have a freind. Add value to your connections they will reward you with great business opportunities and refer like minded clients.

This is a cool method, and I like it. I've seen a couple of WSOs that talk about what you said NOT to do, and I've actually seen, word for word, the same messages in multiple groups from different people. Folks who are in these groups get wise to that stuff sooner or later, and the genuine approach you have is good.

I found myself not able to send messages to most people in the groups I'm in, I could swear that you used to be able to do that, so I'm trying a little bit of a different approach. It's going well so far, but I'll let you know more of what I'm doing soon.

Other than that, how do you get around not being able to message people in the same group, or connect with them? Is there a way to do that? Wasn't this allowed before, as long as you were in the same group?

Same here. In his video there even is a different design of the page where you ask to connect people in the group. I know he answered this question here already but I could not figure it out, maybe needs a bit more explaining.

      Thanks Daniel,
Linked In has changed in the last 3 months in relation to connecting with people in groups here is how you get around this one.
The more first degree connections you have the greater the number of second degree connections you have access to.

What this means is that when you go into the member sections of groups you find yourself at the top and your 1st degree connections below you under that you will see second degree connections LinkedIn allow you to invite 2nd degree connections to connect but not third degree connections.

So to increase the number of 2nd degree connections the fastest way to do this is to join open networking groups in LinkedIn like Top Linked LinkedIn Lions Open Networkers these groups have thousands of people who want to connect with as many people as possible on linked in when you join them you can place your self on a list to be invited to connect. I think Top Linked offer a membership of $19 To place you on a list where you will get a lot of invites to connect.

Now in most cases these are not your target customers but when you accept an invitation to connect you get access to their 2nd degree connections that show up in multiple groups so the more connections you open yourself up to the greater the number of 2nd degree connections you can access in LinkedIn niche market groups.

      I hope that helps.

Remember to have a friend you have to be a friend first.

Mark thanks for your kind comment. To really make LinkedIn work for you make sure you take advantage of the summary section in your profile and let people know how you can help them.

Make sure you fill out you profile completely and from time to time jut like a website change your content.

If you are targeting a niche you will get better results if you create a profile that supports the niche you want to work with.

I think for those people who are just beginning, this is the best way to start off with Linkedin. Linkedin is not exactly easy to begin using, and it is definitely tough unless you get the right guidance. I like this thread. Great job OP!

I use Linkedin a lot, but I like to keep it strictly professional (so I won't be sharing it here), but anyways, I use OP's plan in some related forms but with a few tweaks.
