RESTROOM AD MINI-BILLBOARDS

WHAT IS IT :

A Black 24" x 36" poster frame with four different, 8 1/2 by 11 full color local business ads displayed inside and hung above restroom urinals or inside restroom stalls in restaurants, bars, clubs, etc.

(see example restroom ad mini-billboards below)

HOW IT WORKS:

All you have to do is simply walk into a local restaurant, bar, club, etc. and ask to speak to the owner. Once your in contact with the owner keep it simple and just show the owner a sample of an ad mini-billboard looks like and explain to them that you will place their 8 ½ x 11 ad flyer in 4 other local businesses restrooms for free in exchange for allowing you to place ad mini-billboards in their restroom.

HOW TO GET ADVERTISERS:

Method 1: (Best Method)

Ask the owner or manager that you will be placing ad mini-billboards for if they are willing to give you the names and phone numbers of companies they have done business with, such as their plumber, carpenter, lawyer, etc. then call those hot leads and talk to the owner and tell them you where referred to them by the owner of said restaurant, bar or club and that your working for them and that you will be hanging mini-billboards in their restrooms and you wanted to know if they would be interested in having one of their 8 ½ x 11 business ad on one of the ad mini-billboards for just $20 per month. Most businesses will be happy to advertise as it's a very unique and creative way of advertising.

Method 2:

Simple walk into local businesses within a 5 mile radius of where you will be hanging your mini-billboards and show the owner a sample of what a ad mini-billboard looks like and ask them if they would be interested in advertising their 8 ½ x 11 business ad in one of the min-billboards for only $20 per month.

Method 3:

Place ads on www.Craigslist.org with all the details and a picture of a sample ad mini-billboard and provide your contact information, so anyone interested in advertising will contact you.

HOW TO MAKE THEM :

To make each ad mini-billboard you will need to buy a black 24" x 36" poster frame, which you can get at Walmart offline for under $10 each or you can buy a 2 pack online for only $17.97 at:

Then you will simply remove the back from each poster frame and
insert and tape into place four 8 ½ x 11 ad flyers and then reattach the back, it's that simple.

PROFIT POTENTIAL :

Average of 3 ad mini-billboards per restroom is 12 ads total per restroom, so at $20 each ad that equals $240 per month per restroom, so if you manage ad mini-billboards for 5 restrooms, that would be a profit of $1,200 per month.

I have a question....

How can you sell something if you know the chance of a decent ROI doesn't exisit in a product?

How many people do you think see one of those flyers, and then go to the business as a result?

What kind of ROI have your clients gotten?

You would have a captive audience for sure, and people do a lot of reading on the throne, but I'm not sure how many go from the throne out to the masses to do business, after doing their business. Do they see the pizza add and think to themselves, "well, time for a refill"? And urinals aren't places to spend a lot of time anyway, so I'm not going to stand there and read for longer than I have to. How about a QR code in the urinal to aim at?

Personally, I think it's a novel idea to sell ...um..."advertising".....but don't expect to have testimonials from advertisers raving about how this brings in customers.

There has been a company doing this in my area for ages. One important thing I noticed was the custom tamper-resistant frames they used. I guess they had a damage problem - you should account for this in your plans.

I'm not saying his idea here is bad, but you make good points. I'm not sure how many people go from the crapper to acting on marketing messages.

I've researched this from an advertiser's perspective and there is an association that covers this type of advertising. It is effective for the right advertiser, right audience and the right message. An astonishing number of people have their mobile phones with them in the bathroom (and use them while on the toilet) and the entire success of the advertising relies on that fact.

He isn't introducing anything new here, maybe only to an audience that doesn't know much about it. But this is a long standing method of advertising.

It's just MY humble opinion BUT for YEARS now....."Martin" has been using "Ideas" he's gotten from little ol' ME....Don Alm. And...it's starting to get "Tiresome"!

Especially when people give HIM credit for coming up with these "Genius" projects.

The Photos in the OP's post are from an advertising firm that actually places Ad Boards in Restrooms. Just Google "Indoor Advertising" and you'll see MANY of these firms....probably including the Photos that "Marty" is showing here.

Why put up bill boards when you can just write it on the wall. I used to see ads all the time when I was growing up. People always advertised their services like that.

  When the "Indian Casinos" first came to Oregon.....I made up some Sample "Urinal Wall Ads" (what I called them) (I believe in not "farting-around" with Niceties! Call a Spade a Spade!)
  
  These were 17" across and 27" high .....in a Plastic Frame mounted on the Wall above the URINALS!.....in 4 'Restrooms" of our Indian Casino in Canyonville, Oregon.
  
  Each restroom had 5 Urinals so....each of my Frames could hold 4 Advertisers....a total of 20 Advertisers per restroom.
  
  So....when this Casino opened....there was Space for 20 advertisers X 4 "john's" = 80 advertisers!
  
  EIGHTY ADVERTISERS willing to pay $50 a month for each space = 80 x $50 = $4,000 A MONTH from ONE Casino?
  
  You Kidding ME? Holy Camoly! With the TRAFFIC of "AFFLUENT" GAMBLERS....going into these Urinals.....spending 60 to 90 seconds each....EXPOSURE!
  
  Selling my "Frames On Walls" was a "Laydown"!
  
  Each Board I had a DUI Lawyer! In fact...I had Law Firms wanting to pay me "enormous" sums to be the ONLY DUI outfit on my Boards!
  
  Note: I sold my "Restroom Boards" to an outfit that got too greedy and got management "pissed".....HOWEVER.....that was 2 yrs ago and....this topic has RE-INSPIRED ME to....GO BACK (I had a Non-Compete dealee for 2yrs)
  
  Heck....Oregon now has SIX Indian Casinos and....because they're in small towns I don't think any "Big Boys" have given this a look.
  
  So.....my "Home-Work" this weekend is to check out a couple of Indian Casinos to see if anyone has jumped on this. If not....hey! I can use a few grand coming in every month for doing nothing but hanging some picture frames on walls above Urinals!

Interesting thread. I talked to a DUI attorney the other day who
was doing restroom advertising in a restaurant that served alcohol.

He liked it and was getting results.

The business owner, however, didn't think it was good for business
and had the attorney's ad removed.
