Have you done any offline marketing?

I've recently started studying offline marketing and I think that marketing offline to the local community would be a great opportunity for targeted traffic if it was done in the right way. For example, I was going to the restroom at a gas station the other day and there was a billboard full of post cards and websites and I thought it would be a good idea just to print out something the next time I go there and post it. What could it hurt?

  • offline marketing still has its demand as it can resonate on a wider scale, eg billboards....but print media is good for certain types of businesses and only work well with a certain incentive....for example Pizza Hut deliver their leaflets for 20% off vouchers code....these are then used when ordering online or via the phone...
  • It feels like you are tipping your toe in the water.

I'd encourage you to at least wade out in the shallow end of the pool. I would get some business cards and cold walk local businesses to get a feel for talking to business owners. Plus, it helps sharpens your value proposition.

I don't think this is the best approach in this video, but it is simple and would get you going. Just modify it to fit your situation.

I'm not talking about contacting business owners. I'm talking about an approach to gain offline traffic from a targeted audience. For example, if I am trying to sell a internet marketing product for beginners, what better place for offline traffic than a college bulletin board (college students hungry to make that extra buck). I'm also not talking about writing a website on a piece of paper. I'm talking about a graphical business card to simply post on the bulletin board. It may seem childish to do but at the same time a child could implement this method. That's what I'm saying.

  • Hi,

If you are looking to use these cards to drive targeted traffic to an offer, I would do my best to leave them in places your ideal customer would frequent. If it's for a make money offer, here are some places I can think of where you might find good prospects:

    -banks
    -check cashing places
    -pawn shops (maybe)
    -libraries
    -employment centers
-grocery store (everyone has to eat, right?)
    -gas stations

Now admittedly, people in some of these places might* be low on cash. I still think it could be worth trying. The best thing to do would be to leave stacks in these places, and then have tracking urls set up so that you can see where your clicks/sales are coming from. For instance, if the check cashing places and grocery store are getting you the most interest and not much from the others, leave more cards there &/or look to leave cards in other similar places. Always be tracking and testing.

Another way to get more cards in hands might be to put the cards in a holder &/or ask shop owners if you can leave a stack in their shop. Some will say yes, some won't. If you find people say no, another avenue to go might be to make people affiliates of your product (I'm assuming it's your product) and offer them a commission on all sales. You'd need a way to track this, of course. If you use Clickbank for the product, they have an in-built system for that, as would JVZoo, DigiResults and any number of online markets. If the shop owner mentions your card to each customer or hands one to a customer on the way out, that would be a big help too. Ask, particularly if they are affiliates. It can't hurt.

I hope that helps. If you have any questions about anything I've said, pleas feel free to PM me here.
