    • I don't know about you guys but I think this is the coolest
post and I'll tell you why.

For most of my life I've been involved in business in one way
      or another.

I've seen people invest their life savings and mortgage their
houses, work their nuts off for 2 or 3 years and never even get
close to making $500-$750 a month.

In this business $500 a month is one REALLY low paying client.

      And it's nearly all profit.

You never had to mortgage anything... you can get started today
bringing in clients and put dollars in your pocket.

There's really nothing that compares to this business model.

And with a bit more confidence and experience you can start
charging $1,500 to $5,000+ per client or an ongoing monthly fee of
$500 to most of the clients you bring in (that can add up pretty
      quickly to a substantial income).

You can make a great income with a business where you can leave
for days or weeks at a time or run it from your laptop anywhere in
      the world.

You can get started with no real investment and if you work hard
at it for a few months you've really risked nothing but your time.

See if you can get a deal like that anywhere else in the business
      world.

Most of the people on the Warrior Forum have no idea how lucky
they are to be in this business.

      Kindest regards,
      Andrew Cavanagh
  • Asking how much someone makes in a forum like this is similar to asking someone how big their dick is. Do the usual and subtract 20-70% from the provided number.

  • I honestly don't think the question is rude. How much money you make, has become personal not because its actually personal, but because of the superficial world we live in.

    Same thing with mens penises.

10,000 years ago we all walked around with our penises proudly hanging out. If you had a 4" penis, you didn't hide it. Nor did you have to ask anyone how big theirs was. You knew the second you met them.

I think when people hide their earnings, they're basically reinforcing the fact that we live in a superficial world. Other people could use the excuse, "it shouldn't matter, so I shouldn't have to say it". But to me, you're basically admitting that it does matter, just by doing that. If it doesn't matter, then why not just say it?

Is it rude to ask someone what type of car they drive? No. Don't people just say it when you ask them? Where I live, 99% of the time they do. It may come off weird if its the first question you ask a stranger, but it depends on context.

This is a forum centered around money, you would sure as hell think that people would be a lot more open about actually talking about money... for instance how much they make. It just seems like something relevant to talk about. If people are going to judge you for it, thats their problem. If others are going to lie about it, I have to say again, thats their problem.

You ask people how many brothers/sisters they have no?
    What their hobbies are?

I just don't understand why money is such a personal matter ... its just paper for shits sake.

If you make $20,000/yr, cool. I'm not judging. I'd actually respect you more since you're not afraid to say it.

One more thing, I understand that some people just think its tacky. But I think rich people started that nonsense. A lot of my brothers friends are like that, and I think they're snobby assholes, whether they're talking about money or not.

In the end, it shouldn't matter at all. Which is why I don't see the big deal.

As far as myself, I won't give you a monthly number, as it varies fairly dramatically from month to month. But in 2012 I made $160,000.

    In 2011, I made a little over $50,000.

The year before that, I barely made $20,000. I was working a shitty, minimum wage job back then.

If I make $10,000 next year, I still won't have a problem saying it. Many garbage men work just as hard as doctors. And how much you make doesn't say a thing about your character as a person.

  • I think it matters greatly. I always talk to friends that are also involved in business about current earnings. It's probably one of my favourite topics to discuss (different ways to make money, how certain things are working, what things are not, venture investment opportunities).

The point I am making is that many people have ulterior motives when discussing income, which is mainly ego centred due to the fact that in our society most people will judge a persons status based on their income. When it comes to discussing income in a forum like this there is another layer of bullshittery added with regards to people selling WSO's and services. This coupled with the ego issue mentioned above makes it worthless to ask a persons income in a forum like this. So the point is, take all earning statements with a grain of salt.

So to answer the OP, I don't think its rude to ask a persons income in most situations. However, don't expect the answer to match reality.

PS: I make a trillion dollars a year working 2 days a week. I will be releasing a WSO explaining everything. Stay tuned.

    • A better question is "how much profit do you make?"

You could make $100,000 in a year, while your expenses creating it was $99,000. Not good.

Marketers in the biz op field like to trot out the income numbers but conveniently leave out their expenses...like ppc, affiliate payments and staff.

Bit like 3 Texans were comparing who was worth the most.
At first it was thought it was the one with the most land.
Turned out it was the guy who owned the least amount of land because
he owned much of the land where the Las Vegas casinos sit on.

  • Depends. I do a variety of things and sell a variety of services. This year I've averaged about a grand a month so far. These were all from existing clients buying extra services, video/website/mobile/graphic design.
  • I think the question like that is a more about what's possible and what is market average. I want to make £60000 this year, if most of you told me you are getting less than that, I'm in trouble. I need to adjust expectations accordingly. It's because we are all suspicious of the hype, when we experience first hand how hard it is to bring income consistently each and every month while starting out.

    • Marta; I think you brought up a really really good point.

      In any business (not jobs, independent businesses) you have pretty much the following;

80% are barely making a living, or are doing it as a hobby. This doesn't mean anything negative. It just means the desire to do more isn't strong enough.

15% are doing well. Maybe making as much as a good full time income. Let's call it $40,000-$100,000.

4% are making a great living, more than any one regular job, and are working at the top of their game. And very full time. Let's call it $100,000-300,000.

1% are Great. They are making a Million a year or more, many with several full time employees. These are owners of larger companies.

I'm basing that on years of hiring reps, talking with others that do what I do, and a little guessing.

Dan McCoy's "$47,261.73 working three hours just one day per week!!!" is Nirvana to me. And an incredible feat. That's a worthwhile goal for any of us.

I can say this with absolute certainty. All you need to know is here. Nobody is hiding any "Secrets". Every approach, ever tool you can use, every answer to any objections, any closes...all here on this Forum. And they are easy to find.

When someone asks me how to make more money selling, I ask "How many books on selling have you read this month?" After I get the expected answer, I ask "OK, This Year?"

Donald Trump asked Dan Kennedy (two Giants if anyone fits this description) "What are the three business books you are reading right now?"

I once showed my business library to a young niece, about 16 years old. She said "Did you read all these books?". At the time, there were about 2,000 or more marketing and sales books on the shelves. I said "Nearly. The ones laying on their side, I haven't read yet."

She said "Why do you read books when you don't have to for school?"
My heart sank. She didn't get it.

I said (paraphrasing from memory) "These are treasure maps. Anything you need to know to get anything you want...somebody has written a book about it. A lifetime of experience is poured into a single book. My library is my best possession"

She asked "How much did all this cost you?"

I said "No idea. Over the years, maybe $70...maybe $100,000." (I included the library at work, and all the first editions that cost much more.)

I hadn't thought about how much all this cost. I was kind of proud of my library.

She said "You spent that much on books? Someone scammed you!"

I sighed a little and said something like " I think dinner is ready"

I love some quotes. Here is one of my favorites.
"Write something worth reading, or do something worth writing about". Ben Franklin.

    • My top books on selling? My library consists of psychiatry, the workings of the brain, NLP, marketing, advertising, selling, and related fields. I have an extensive library of martial arts books, and a small comic book collection (gathering dust).

Business books for offline selling? (these will be the same for most of us here that read much)

      Pitch Anything
      The Ultimate Sales Machine
      The Feldman Method
      Selling Retail
Pretty much anything by Dan Kennedy
      Influence
      Triggers
Any advertising book by John Caples (the early editions)

You could probably get the entire set for $100-$150 on Amazon.

Oh, and I wrote a book on selling advertising that's pretty good....

  • Between my disability pension and the money I make from my writing, proofreading and ebay sales I make enough money to pay my rent, electricity, health insurance, a few other bills, groceries, taxi fares, medical bills from more than a dozen specialists, medications (more than 20) the odd movie here and there, and some other bits and pieces.. I can also put money into savings. So add that up and it is how much I make.
  • I make about $65k to $70k per year as a W2 employee doing in house internet marketing.

I might break $70k this year.

To get similar pay and benefits if i went out on my own I would need to profit about $100k and you figure that means $150 to $200k in revenue.

  • I currently have 26 offline monthly clients that pay anywhere from $125 to $275 !

Then I have lead generation clients that pay per lead and one is a big car dealer that avg 140 to 200 leads a month at a set price of $8 a lead .

But there is expense and overhead involved in everything !

I also have a bunch of services that I have to pay for each month plus outsources and 3 steady employees the employees are bringing home close to $400 a week.

The services that I have to pay every month are a tax right off but, I still have to lay it out it! It's very expensive. What Runs Where, My Text Service, My Tracking Service, Traffic Geyser, Aweber,SEnuke and I am sure there is more that I am forgetting !

Plus I have to pay gas and tolls and all my computer programs never lone my advertising and other expenses.

But I can say I have no wants and everything is running pretty smooth and if I feel like taking a vacation I can at any time!

Of course they go down as business trips.
Oh and if my clients do not pay me on time! I have to lay it out also!

I guess if I had to I could figure out the exact number but that is what accountants are for!

    Best of luck

  • my local seo clients raked me over 97K last month. But the best thing for me is that my website has been featured on quite a lot of blogs etc. and many hosting companies send referral traffic on CPM basis. I am looking forward to increasing that to over 200K this year. Its tough looking at the current scenario in US. I mean outsouring my content online and offline makes a world of difference.

How do you guys manage your work outsourcing? Is it done offline or online? Any websites which you can recommend other than those phillipino freelancers etc.
  • What I find funny on this forum, is how people sometimes post really basic question, or how they complain they can't get any clients, but in their signature there is link to make 'millions in your sleep with my expert program'. Like, they are linking to 'sell 1000 mobile sites per minute and get them set up in seconds' but they ask what software to use to make mobile site and how much to charge per one. I think that's why it's difficult to believe that anybody is making millions, since the forum is full of newbies who never sold anything but claiming they have a great WSO ... than there are those who are struggling to sell£100 websites and don't believe anybody can really sell one for a £1000, £5000 etc. I sellwebsites for £1000 coz once I sold £200 and it took me exactly the same time to make it. No point bothering with low cost. On the other hand, I never made living with that, just part time, when I needed new kitchen, holidays or sth like that. It's baffling when you see first hand companies that make 15% profit after all expenses, wages, tax - and than you realise you can make exactly the ssame amount with hardly any overheads, without hard fixed costs like heavy machinery, warehouse etc.. the restaurant owner I know, employs 10 people and there is £1000 per week left for him. To get he needs to get £10000 in revenue each week on average. I get the same £1000 out of £1400, so it feels like I'm not having a real business. My friends don't really believe you can make this kind of money from your laptop, from your sofa, they are sure I'm lying to them:-)they are the same friends trying to make pocket money withAvon... my point is, wage and profit expectations are way different here, on the forum and 'out there' in real world of brick and mortar business owners and employees.

  • how much? enough. But I'd rather be making more than enough.
