Mailing list you can either buy it or grab your own .
The better you grab your own list because you know where to get client and who will be your client.
    a) You can start collecting list from your blog, social media, collecting name card whenever who you meet , ask your existing client to subscribe, do a campaign or giveaway and request your site visitors to subscribe.

    b) you can design your own in the email marketing tools if it is simple as insert text and image, you also can hire expert and designer to do it.

    c) all you need is grab a email marketing tools that will provide you the data for every campaign that you send.
Open rate, categories your data list , bounce rate, click through rate, spam rate checker.

BJ, google "mailing lists" and just read. You can learn so much about that industry just by reading the websites. I had no idea what I didn't know about mailing lists until I went to Melissa Data's site.

Melissa Data has volumes of information, like demographics, how and why to sort your list, pro/con of buying a list vs renting a list, the different types of lists, making sure the list contains the fewest possible outdated addresses, demographics, post card vs letters, forwarding addresses, saturation lists, and on and on and on.

They also offer tutorials about the industry, and lots of software that you can buy to make the whole process easier.

I don't know how they compare, pricewise, to competitors, but their website is an education in itself.

I also noticed this company, lists.nextmark.com has a lot of info on the first page that I came to. They advertise free use of "The Mailing List Finder." Check them out.

BJ, something else to consider- Gary Halbert used to recommend taking out a full page ad in USA Today to drive traffic to your website. I have no idea what this costs, but you could query your local paper for quarter page, half page, full page ad prices. You might save money and time this way.

Of course, you might want to hire a copywriter if you go this route. And check to see if your server can handle the increased load if 1%, 2% etc. respond. Find out what the paper's circulation is first.

Also, check ad prices for any local ad finder, thrifty nickle types of newspapers.

    thanks for all your responses...

simply, i have an optin page...

all i want to do is learn:
    1) how do i find the right list with the mailing addresses?
    2) after i find the list, where do i go to create the postcard and send to those mailing lists...is there a specific site that automates this (i don't want to mail out thousands of postcards myself obviously).

thats it...anyone have real life experience doing this...please let me know those 1-2 steps...thank you...i greatly appreciate it.

    HI there,

    Take a look at this:

I have no affiliation to this guy (Ben) but I do know he's the real deal. I'd recommend you get a couple of his WSOs as they answer the questions you're asking as well as provide you with a step-by-step program.

    All the best,

    Sasha.

Here's the biggest source of mailing lists...Media Search.

First you can't buy the lists, because they are only for rent.

        Secondly search for buyers.

Buyers of products/opportunity in the same price range as yours and those done so in the last 30 days.

Those are going to be your most responsive.

Then you have to work out the maths to see what response you need to break even and if that is realistic. If not then look at what else you can sell on the initial sale and shortly after.

To be profitable in this game you have to know your numbers and buyer physcology.

        Best,
        Ewen
