Care to share your educated (or not) guess as to what is sbo's biggest pet peeve w/marketing consultants and/or buying marketing services?

Obviously roi would have to be one of the top ones.

    They don't think we know their business.
    They don't think we will give good results (we'll just take the money and run).
    They keep thinking of marketing as an expense (they don't need)...because the rep selling them doesn't know how to show a profit.

    All of these dislikes are from their experience. These aren't usually imagined.

    I'm on their side. Most of us suck.
    At least most people selling marketing services are terrible at the deliverables.
    Most see us as just the next ad rep looking for money.

    Consultants selling before asking questions, reps suggesting a solution before fully understanding their business objectives.

    It basically comes down to their past negative experiences as Claude has pointed out, and the fact that most salespeople do not follow a methodical system of selling and instead fly by the seat of their pants.

    The bad reps make our jobs easier, so it's a blessing if anything.

    They've been overcharged and under delivered.

    example: $5000 for an e-commerce site that had no CMS
    for the client to manage the inventory. All HTML. The 'provider'
    would have been happy to take $75 - $100 per change,
    which is about the retail for the item. (Lingerie in limited runs
    and sizes.)
