From March 26-30 (Tuesday through Saturday) The Unfair Advantage Small Business Advertising Manual will be free to download. You don't even need Kindle to get the book. Just download it to Kindle on PC.

This is my first book. I wrote it in 2007, at the peak of my retail store sales.

The book describes how to create ads that sell product. It's for any business that advertises. If you sell to offline businesses, you'll get a lot of ideas you can share with them.

This is not how to advertising online services.
I have a few advertising sales companies that buy this book by the case to give as gifts to their offline clients. (The print version).

But I wanted everyone to know that they could get a FREE copy this week. After Saturday, you can still buy the book, but not get it for free.

    Loved the bit about not advertising your puppy/whatever in the ad.

    We have a car place that does that locally and I honestly think it hurts them.

    I've always hated her and her dogs and my girlfriend told me the other days she hates those ads as well.

    So at best it does nothing and at worse it turns off real buyers.

      Ad reps tend to say two things to business owners
      "You should be in the ad" and Your kids/pets should be in the ad"

      You know why? Because it will take 6 months or more before the business owner has the nerve to take his kids/pets/self out of ads.

      So the ad rep have a several month grace period.

      But putting a dog in the ads? Sure, if you get a free dog with every car.

    Great read and great knowledge.

    Once again my points will be similar to what I have said in the past.
    1. Anyone advertising will see value in this.
    2. For a lot of businesses not used to tracking and ROI this knowledge will be a huge wake up call. Some business need to do branding style advertising. But many should be doing more direct result advertising. Plus many small businesses should be only doing direct results.
    3. It does need to be updated and I know you know that.
    4. I really think you have potential to be a name in the advertising business well beyond your current HERD. And hope to see you take this to the next level in the next few years.

      Do you know who hates this book? Ad reps for radio,TV, and newspapers.
      I pretty much attack the idea of needing multiple exposures to test an ad.

      Ad results always go down with repetition, never up.

      Anyway, what do you think of the idea to sell print copies to offline marketers as gifts to clients or for appointments? I've been toying with offering the books for a few dollars each in quantity.

      Now....would you leave a review?

    I think it is a good book for people to give out. For those without their own book (and even those with) it makes a good gift for clients.

    Helps them understand how marketing should be an investment not an expense which is the biggest problem companies have when it comes to marketing. They really do see it as an expense.

    BTW I will try to put up the reviews on Amazon for your other two books this week. It is just something I plan to do at home but haven't had a chance.

      Now I've read many of the old timers books and own quite a few, but somehow the way you explained it in your book finally made complete sense.

      Great read yes, but awesome instruction that I used with my wife's craigslist ad headline. She was so stoked at the results that she gained a long term client that will generate $4800 a year in new business.

        And guess what???!!!

        And then there will be a 80 day rest from the free books.

        And... Local Online Marketing explains what I do for clients when I sell my online services. But it promotes me and my service, so don't buy it to hand out to clients...but it gives a good examination of what I do for local clients.

    Hi Claude, although I got there too late to take advantage of the free offer - I still got the book. And boy am I glad I did!

    This book was a masterful presentation of the advertising environment - all the way around. And even though, it is more geared towards small businesses as opposed to offliners; offliners could certainly pick up a thing or two from reading your book.

    Love you common sense, cut through the fat approach to explaining the how's and why's of advertising. Thanks very much for sharing this!
