My client sold his business, new owner wants Google+ Local username or passwords.

My client sold his restaurant business and now the new owner wants access to Website, Google+ Local and Google+ Page etc..

1. New owner does not want to do business with me.(doesn't care about SEO or how well the site is doing)
2. Restaurant sale did not include Website, Google Places, Facebook, SEO (For the life of me, I don't know why)
3. I did not have a contract with previous owner for my Wedesign and SEO services.(previous owner was a friend)
4. New owner has registered a new domain and website.

Should I just hand over everything to the new owner? he is a bit of a rude twat.

your help much appreciated

Short answer... no. Who owns the first domain? If you didn't have a contract with previous owner, you are under no contractual agreement to do anything. They don't want your services? Well, isn't handing them over information doing them a service?

Not trying to be flippant, at all, but if someone is treating you that way..
They bought a new domain, let them figure it out. However, I would take down the website, or get rid of the information on it. You don't want them copying it do you? (I don't know if you're concerned about that or not, I would be).

If you want to be done with it, as you said, then charge them for what they want!!!

    Good Luck!!

You don't need to give him anything as he has not paid for it. (According to your friend)

Similar to if he had bought the Restaurant but furniture was not included because he has different ideas.

The fact that he has already registered a new domain would indicate why he never asked for those to be included in the sale.

He didn't require them from the off as he has other plans. ie Complete clean sweep and rebrand. That is why he is not interested in your site or SEO of it etc. Would be a bit pointless wouldn't it?

      However

Before you just kill all the sites that you presumably own, which is really what you should do, you should check with your friend that Intellectual Property (not quite this but I can't remember the correct term) was not somewhere in the agreement.

Because then he does in fact own the rights. Just like he would own any flyers that may have been printed by the previous owner.

So he may want to ensure they are destroyed.

Which is what I would do too.

See if you can negotiate some sort of nominal sum for what he wants. They are dead anyway whether you get something or not.

Nothing you can do with them is there?

Wow Dan! Good catch! I hadn't thought about that! It might all boil down to who owns the domain? Not sure on this.

    Just hand them over.

Why? because not handing them over is wasting time and not getting paid.

I never understand why people will waste more time and money vs. just giving something away. Happens in retail management all the time.

This is a business. It doesn't matter if he is a jerk or not. Your business is not to hand out Karma.

So stop and ask yourself is it worth dealing with this crap to prove a point? Just hand the crap over that you don't own. And even that I might just hand over to be done with it.

Always think about how much your time is worth. It may not cost you money but money is easier to replace than time.

Agree with Aaron. You made your money with the first owner. If the second owner doesn't want to work with you, don't hold him hostage. It's only going to be a headache. Wash your hands of it all and move on.

I agree with Aaron. I wouldn't waste any time training him or organizing things for him, but just send them over and wash your hands of this guy.

You never know, he may realize what a jerk he is being later and that he needs you to help with this stuff. His ignorance is not a reason to kick dirt on him. He might not realize how little he knows about marketing. He might think it's all useless, easy, and any third grader can do it. If/when he realizes how wrong he was, he will remember that you were always a professional.

Treat people in a professional manner, always. This is your business and how you pay your bills, right?

You don't know what this guy is up against or may be going through at this point in his life along with spending a small fortune on a business.

Not sure if serious... Why would you want to antagonize him and publicly give yourself a reputation as a sour, petty person? As far as I can tell, the second owner has not been unreasonable. OP is basically trying to sell the same car twice. I sold it to this guy, now I get to lay claim to it and sell it again to this guy.

Without a contract stipulating some sort of lease agreement, I doubt a judge would find in favor of the OP. Any proof of monies exchanged would serve as a receipt and quasi-agreement of sale on the first transaction. First owner has purchased these products and is entitled to give them to whomever he pleases.

Hand them over... why would you want to make an
enemy in the business community just so you can make

Agree with Dan and Aaron. I see no reason not to take the twenty minutes and send the information and be done with it and professional. As Dan points out, the guy could be all tense about buying and starting this new venture.
