Hi good day guys, I'm TakeactionIM, 18 years old and about to start up an offline business offering web design services to sbo's (go figure).I'm making this post so I can hold myself accountable publicly because to be frank, i've been bullshitting lately.

A recently took up a job at a call center selling merchant services to solely see what the experience was like.I was making about 200 calls a day, setting up appointments so the closers could go out and do their thing.I quit today after I felt my research was done and am about to start up a small business.

I've bought and read some books on selling:

- Selling Fearlessly: A Master Salesman's Secrets For The One-Call-Close Salesperson

- Smart Calling: Eliminate the Fear, Failure, and Rejection from Cold Calling

- The 10X Rule: The Only Difference Between Success and Failure ( HIGHLY recommend this book, holy sh*t, talk about paradigm shift.I got both the book and the audiobook, you would do well with just the audio book, try audible.com)

* Also read john's report and listened to the audio series, also bought an audiobooks of The Greatest Salesman in the world and listened to it a few times, powerful stuff.)

As far as the web design, I've been doing web design ever since I was about 14 and when I decided to start offering this service to sbo's I procrastinated by reading more books (learned jQuery and PhP, currently learning how to code a Wordpress site) and then realised I was just wussing out and that I knew more than enough to be able to offer this service.

As far as goals go, I want to start writing them as I go along, I literally just want to start calling and get my feet wet before I focus on too much of anything else and get stuck in my head (Have been wanting to start this business since I was 16) like I did before. My sole goal for tomorrow (2/4/2013) is to make 100 phone calls.By tomorrow I will have my long term goals and actionable step to achieve them. Will keep you guys, and myself...posted

You should hit the streets too. Nobody is cold calling anymore as there too busy making calls and sending emails.

I personally think you get to know alot more about the business by cold calling. Asking questions and finding out what problems the owner is experiencing.

They are not allowed, but if you want to do it go ahead.
Just dont be shocked if it disappears one day.

Honestly, using the blog section with a link in your signature will likely give you the most bang for your buck, especially if you plan on posting on a regular basis. (Most people never post more than a short time though)

Then if you have specific issues and questions that come up in your journey post them for responses.

Best to you in your endeavors.

Getting started is always the hardest thing to do, great work in living up to your title.

I'd suggest you start writing down your goals today if to achieve nothing more than to have a target to aim for.

If you just sit down and discipline yourself to make those 100 calls you will start gaining the momentum you need to smash your goals.

Wish more people would do this. Learn how to sell and etc on someone else's dime. Then you can be ready to start your own business if you choose.
