Building Your Book for Kindle / Microsoft Word vs. Open Office

BUILDING YOUR BOOK FOR KINDLE: This free guide will walk you through the necessary steps in creating a professional digital file of your book using Microsoft Word 2010 for quick upload to Kindle Direct Publishing. <--Free publication from Kindle. My question is since I don't have Microsoft Word can I just as easily use Open Office? Or are there enough differences that the formatting would come out differently ? All info and/or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Michael

I don't think this thread should be in the offline forum.

But Yes you can use Open Office but I would save any changes in the Open office extension not .doc to keep the formatting.
Just be careful with the extra spacing that seems to occur when you save it in the .html extension.
