Video SEO for Competitive Keyword

It's obvious that it's easier to get a video to rank in Google than it is to get a site to rank in Google. With that being said, what strategies should one deploy to rank videos for "hyper competitive" keywords in Google?

I do 67 separate things to rank my videos on Google.

Most involve linking from lots and lots of high Pagerank relevant videos to my channel....lots of comments on other videos...A ton of real full length views....

It's a lot of work. You simply need to out work the competitors with videos.

Lots of internal linking, on Youtube..lots of linking into Youtube from high Pagerank websites, and lots of view, likes, comments, subscriptions, and embedding the videos on other sites. Video comments....multiple Youtube channels cross linking.....

Linking from other videos sites to the Youtube videos help too.

A very compact keyword rich video title, tags, and description.....

There. That should keep you busy for a week or so.

You have your answer right there. What does SEO competition do to get to the top? Out work their competition (even out smart them). So the same thing applies when you wanna rank for videos. It's wrong to assume it's an easy job when you know it's a tough market you're trying to crack.

Didn't say it was "easy" said "easier" lol... No one in this particular niche has a video tied to the keywords they spend gobs of $ on. It's really competitive when it comes to ranking sites - but folks seem to not give a darn about video.

          30,000 for Term A
          25,000 for Term B

Competitive is defined as there being many firms all paying lots per click and lots for SEO services for these terms.

            In that case, I recommend:

            1. 4-5 YT Channels with a bunch of videos on them.
            2. Backlink the crap out of the videos (diverse backlinks).
            3. Everything else Claude said.

            Good Luck!

If this is the case, then maybe YOU can help us. I'd love to know how you get these national clients and what you charge for ranking videos nationally? Also can you show us some examples?
          Marty,

I'm sorry for the confusion. I posted the question because I genuinely needed help / feedback. I try to give more than I get around here... Nonetheless...
          1. I do video production for clients who market nationally.
          2. I am as fluent in SEO as I am in mandarin, which is why I do not offer it. I'm "trying" to get a video ranked locally, for a dominant national client - I'm failing (so far).
          3. My biggest client is my former boss. My second largest client is one who I produced a truly outstanding video for - great conversation starter. Other "lower level" national clients come from a guy who I used to work with as a low level b**** boy years ago. He's elevated himself to a position of authority and in the process has elicited my help. In turn, he's happy to let me "break the rules" and self promote on one of his authoritative web properties.
          4. I don't charge a dime for ranking anything because I do not know what I am doing. I'm working on ranking a video for free for one client.
Finally, I guess the formula for getting national clients is to get a B2B sales job. Stay alert. Itch to disrupt it / improve processes by using technology. Attempt to do so. Lose your shirt. Learn a lot. Then send your former boss useful info (unsolicited) useful info based on what you have learned while broadcasting that same info to his / her competitors.

I think that about covers it?

I almost forgot... This list of things / learned has also helped me formulate strategies to attract national clients.

          1. Associating / reaching out to the smartest people I can find and not being afraid to ask for info.
          2. Learning the fundamentals of building web apps (Ruby on Rails).
          3. Wireframing.
          4. User experience design.
          5. Free educational resources - online learning from Ivy League institutions FREE! works.
          6. Being a technology blog whore.
          7. Reading; "Steve Jobs" by Walter Isaacson.
          8. Reading; "The Lean Startup" by Eric Ries.
          9. Applying to and getting interviewed as a semi-finalist to leading technology incubators.
          10. Building and shipping a minimum viable product.
          11. Consulting for a technology start-up
          12. Attending local meet ups.
          13. 10,000 hours in Barnes and Noble.
          14. Keeping warm ties to those still working for your boss. This helps you assess needs / challenges.
          15. Write well.

Video metadata is already indexed by search engines organically, but human-authored video metadata can optimize your content indexing.
Metadata is also preserved when a user downloads your video file. If Google can understand the content on your web pages (including images & video),
they are better able to create "rich snippets" - or detailed information - that better distribute your content among search results.
In the context of video, metadata covers the title, the subject matter (in the form of a description), relevant categorical tags,
the desired publication date, the video length, dimensions, thumbnail, and the video author. Having Said That watch this video on how to do it. How To Add tags titles and more to your video file - YouTube
