Get a map, find the businesses you want to market to in a particular area, set-up a route for yourself (so you're not driving aimlessly) and start visiting them. The absolute best way!

No offense but why would you put "lead generation" in that list? It doesn't jive well considering thats basically what he already asked.

Aside from that, I would add geotargeted youtube videos to the mix.

In fact, between website seo/geotargeting, local search and all 3rd party directories + geotargeted youtube videos, you can generate a very impressive volume of calls.

I'm not talking about running a 10 salesman business, but we keep 2 guys running leads all week long just with those 3. Never under estimate the power of geotargeted youtube videos. I see very few businesses using this avenue the right way, and the ROI on it is ridiculous. We have dozens of youtube videos on page 1 that get people on the phone immediately. Once the videos are set up, they never move.

But please, dont' just make 5 videos while aimlessly spinning testimonies. Have a person from the business speaking, or get a radio voice over done on fiver and push for the lead. The videos should have a strong, direct focus. Not that cheesy background music so many businesses use.

With 6 well made videos, you can spin them or make brief edits to each video 5 times = 30 "unique" videos in the eyes of youtube. Then rank all 30 for worthy geotargeted terms.

Then a few months later to do the same thing. Be sure to backlink all the more competitive terms/videos (I use scrapebox and by "competitive" I mean county keywords or towns with over 50,000 people) and its helpful to divy up some retention views as well. The key here is to drip feed so everything looks natural.

God I really need to make a WSO about Local marketing. For so long I've considered myself a newbie, but the more I see advice on these forums, the more I realize that I may actually be a genius. Nobody is specific anymore, nobody gives valuable details (maybe they just don't know?). The money is all in the details people, I just can't stand these generic lists of advice anymore. This is a marketing forum people! Where the hell is your passion!?

I am happy you mentioned geotargeted videos,so the videos actually are driving calls to your company? I was unsure that they were other than just taking up another spot on google.

Do you find you get just as many calls from the videos as you do from your website?

    Thanks

How to market depends on the business.

Ideal Customer: Male, Retired: You wouldn't be using much online advertising but depending on the product or service the newspaper might work very well.

Ideal Customer: Female, 14-21: Social would likely work, Radio?, Mall displays?

You need to think like that ideal customer. Where are they? How do you get their attention? What motivates them to take action?
