Offline Ways to Promote A Website (and Spark Interest...)

Okay, so I have a couple of ideas in the pipeline (unfortunately cannot reveal the niche) that I would like to experiment with.

What are the best ways to promote a website?

I'll start...

- Flyers
- T-shirts
- Caps
- Umbrella's (too expensive i guess?)
- Water bottles

Any ideas from your side?

Its the old can you give me some ideas but I cant tell you
anything more because my idea is so unique and great that I fear just by
saying it that everyone else in the world is going to steal it so you will just have to guess as to whether or not this is a good idea and throw some $hit out there that may or
    may not even be suitable.

Threads like these are really stupid and disrespectful to people around here that
    want to help.

I realize you are a kid and dont get it yet so someone has to school you and it may as well be me.

I appreciate your honesty Eddie, keep up the great work.

In all honesty, I am not tired down to one idea right now and am actually playing around with a few options so it would be really silly of me to pick an idea to focus on.

I wish you all the best though mate.

The marketing technique that works best may well be dependant on the niche you choose! For example, if you're targeting highly paid professionals, they won't be impressed by something you'd give to new mothers. It also depends what value you expect a customer to be worth over their lifetime as to how much you can afford to acquire them as a customer.

Has anyone ever tried skywriting? Near a football match or somewhere you could reach a million for fairly cheap. I hope it's a good idea because any justification to buy a plane would be gold!!!

Wonder what the legalities of making a remote controlled drone for skywriting would be?

      Just FYI

Models are subject to the same rules/laws as full-size aircraft when it comes to ANY kind of commercial venture.

If you are speaking of one small geographic area, I have seen those bandit signs (like the we buy houses) very effective as long as you don't litter an area with them. Just strategically placed, and not all at major intersections...And they stay up longer if attached to telephone poles.

Without knowing niches, all I can say is study 'free publicity' and 'guerilla marketing' for ideas. Dan

When ever you order fast food and they ask for a name give them your website name.

That way when they call out your order they are yelling out your website name in front of all their customers.

Order ready for MattsWickedSite.com! MattsWickedSite.com your order is ready!

When you promote a website offline, make sure that there's very little interval between the time your prospects saw your advertisement and the time they log on to the Internet.

You don't wanna place website URL at the back of the T-shirt of mountaineers, do you?

A better way is to ask some Internet cafe owners/managers if they will allow you to place some posters or stickers that advertise your website on the walls of their cafe.

    What do you think?

Or you could do what Little Caesars, and the furniture stores all do, and have some guy outside with some huge sign at busy intersections...It definitely gets a lot of people to look!

Often times, businesses fail to use the options that they already have - like the marquis outside! Or using a new sign or lettering to add their domain name outside for people driving by.

You ever noticed that most people that advertise offline use phone numbers
    instead of websites?

I like doing this because people will call my google voice number and then
their phone number is now in my google voice email. I can then follow up through
text or call and shoot them my website link or have them join my Facebook page.

Grabbing their info as quickly as possible to keep the conversation going is the key, even if
its just their phone number from google voice caller id.

I'm not sure how many people want to stop in their tracks in this day and age and look
up a website on their smart phone (if they have one) and then be enticed by your call of action
to join your mailing list through an opt in box. Tough odds.

Whatever way you decide to advertise, make sure you don't use some logo or fonts that are hard to read.

My eye sight isn't the greatest but not too terrible either, but man, I don't know how many times I see an advertisement or business name sign, and I have to start using my brain way too much just to figure out the business name or website name, even on a giant billboard.

I don't know who gives the okay on these ads and signs but they really don't do them any justice.

I agree, not sure why Businesses use business name & cluttered services on signage... no one can read that shiz...

Simplest way I've found, check out attachment.... This is actually something I used to pick up a few lawns this year. Simple, but it works.

Feel free to text the number, and view the auto-response set up. I normally follow up immediately with a pre-written text saved to my phone:

Thank you for your interest in The Lawn Boy. How may I help you today.

However, I normally don't respond to any out of area phone numbers unless they respond to the auto-response directly to my cell number :-)
