Just wanted to take the time to introduce myself here.

I am located in the UK, the midlands to be more precise.
I have been working on SEO and lead generation part time for offline clients for the past few years and I am now ready to give it my entire focus and work full time building up a business providing these services for SMB's.

Having briefly looked around this forum I can see that there are some very knowledgeable people here with far more experience than I. I am looking to gain some tips and also contribute as where I feel I can be of benefit.

Looks like I've found a new home.

p.s. Hope I posted this in the right area as I couldn't see an introduction area.

    Hello Jack. Glad you're here.

I think it's OK to introduce yourself here in this subforum...the only other place would be the Off Topic area, and it might never get seen there by the Offline readers.

What's your biggest challenge so far?

      Thanks Jason.

I wouldn't really call it a challenge but more of something I need to try more and improve on. It's the final step of my sales process and that is the actual meeting.

At the moment I am converting somewhere between 1in3 and 1in4.

My current sales process leads me to preparing a free site audit for them and going through it with them in a hour or so long meeting. The problem comes when they ask "So how much is this all going to cost?"

Really need to focus on qualifying the prospect to make sure they have the right budget before hand.

That isn't bad, you know. 1 in 4 to 1 in 3 is not something to be unhappy about.

How about further up the process chain? If you could get more opportunities to the meeting stage, you'd have a good chance of closing more, right?

What's your experience been like earlier on in the process?

I know that it isn't too bad, but there is always room for improvement

I'm fairly confident in my sales process as it stands.
          1. I send out a postcard just to get my name out there
          2. I send out a letter for a free webinar
          3. They watch the pre recorded webinar (Easy webinar plugin is great for this) at the end there is a offer for a free website audit
          4. Send out a sequence of 3 emails to those who signed up
          5. Phone the business that requested the audit letting them know that their audit is ready, giving them a brief overview and set up the meeting.

          It's an extremely automated process.

All in all I'm getting around a 3% conversion to the meeting stage and my cost per prospect is right around £1.20 ($1.80).

Pretty incredible numbers -- if I understand them. You're considering a prospect every person/company you line up an audit meeting with? Or are you saying everyone you send a postcard and letter too?

Sorry, I could of made this a little clearer. It costs me £1.20 for every person I send a postcard/letter to. Out of all of those people I get a meeting with 3% and convert the meetings say 1 in 3. So my total cost for 100 postcards, letters, webinars, emails and phone calls would be £120 ($180) and I should average one new SEO client for that outlay.

            We get right to it.

I was wondering about your step 1. and 2. You never thought of just combining that and save money?

Or do you feel it creates a more Professional process for you?

On one of your meetings after you have established rapport with your potential client why not just ask him/her was this the best intro process for him/her and if he/she had a preference....I would love to hear your result thanks.

Hi Art thanks for the welcome.

Not really sure why their isn't a introduction area, maybe a thought for the future hey

I'm a firm believer in the statement that it takes 5-7 forms of contact to have the prospect begging to work with you and as such I think that mailing them seperately is the best way to go. I know that plenty of people will disagree with this and I would love to hear their reasonings but it's just from what I have seen so far.

I wouldn't really say that it makes my business look more professional but maybe helps the prospect to recognise the name of my business a bit more. Even if 10% who read the letter thought I know these guys (They don't even have to remember where from) then it has done its job.

Also thanks for the input about the meeting stage, I guess feedback is everything. I'm currently reading Pitch Anything by Oren Klaff so hopefully I can pick up some tops from there as well.

Thanks Anne and Mario. Just browsing around at the minute. Any posts in particular you would recommend?

From what I have seen so far it seems as if Jason and Claude are the go to guys here so I'll have a browse through their posts.
