reputation mangement for a person

i have a client who wants to change the results that show up when he googles his own name. all the reputation management books tend to focus on review sites, testimonials. how do i go about ranking these pages la times article, wired.com article? can i simply just do 100s of socialbookmarks or do i need to do blog commenting, link wheels etc.

your help is greatly appreciated as the deadline is nearing.

    Create accounts on social media sites and don't forget to create the Google profile. These accounts might show first on search results. Use dofollow links. Optimize your profile. Include keywords for example - John Doe - an expert on web design. Make a personal website. Write useful blogs. These are what I can think of. Hopefully others will give better advices. Good luck!
