Lack of security in my city brings to mind this business idea. Need Advice

Hello everyone;
Due to insecurity problems in my city, many people are afraid of shopping regularly. Stray bullets have killed many people at shops and banks.
As a result, I and my partners will like to introduce an online ecommerce website that will allow people to shop from their homes.

Here's what we want
  1. Business people should list their products and their prices on our website
  2. People visit our ecommerce website and pay for products from various businesses
  3. The order is taken
  4. We'll notify our intercity courier and the business
  5. the business packages the order
  6. Intercity courier picks it up and takes it to the business address.

My questions are
1. Can a custom wordpress theme handle all these?
2. Can I make the site extremely secure and hacker proof
3. What other web development options are the best to handle this?
4. What's the best way to make various businesses use one shopping cart, how do I handle issues after order is placed?
5. Any other ideas will be most welcome.

    Hi there,

    The term you should use is "lack of security" - not insecurity. Insecurity is a personal affliction or mental condition.

    Now, what you are looking to do is set up a complete ecommerce platform.

    You can do this by joining with a large supplier to simply be a store front for their products. This will be the easiest way to get started and the least expensive. Essentially you will be their affiliate. They will handle all the details - purchasing, shipping, customer service, and you'll get a cut off each product they sell.

    Then all you have do to is promote the affiliate site.

    Thanks Sasha and Joe. Your replies are really impressive. They've pointed me to the right direction on how to channel my searches. I'm still wondering how business people and the suppliers can work. Suppliers that offer shipping and handling services are not common here.

    Except I sell the idea to someone who can start that. Even if someone buys the idea to start such a service, I'm wondering how the person can work with businesses. Will business people agree to store their products in a warehouse just like that???
