Sales Force - Are you worth a Poop?

Because I'm not worth a damn at sales.

I've got a lead gen site that's generating leads for a 'local' business - and producing money for them. A bunch of damn money.

Just last week I sent a business a $600 dollar job. Last month we sent a client a job worth approximately $25,000 dollars.

The only problem is I haven't made a bloody cent off this crap. They're all fine and dandy in taking the leads for free on a "test" run, but as soon as the test run is over, so are they.

So, I'm looking for someone that knows how to sell, because apparently I CAN'T sell worth a damn.

Payment will be based on a per lead basis. Basically, I'm looking for someone to close a business on the leads, and then you'll be paid per lead for the life of the client.

If you're interested send me a pm for my skype name and we can discuss.. i'll be on all afternoon.

What are you saying to your prospect at the end of the free trial period?

What happens when you go over the leads you sent and the value of the projects they closed?

With all due respect, Jason. I've got no interest in trying to learn to sell this particular market of business owners anymore, much less trying to analyze what I'm doing wrong.

But I'll play along for now.

The site is generating leads, right? So I've been contacting businesses that are currently listed with service magic - particurly on days where I have hot leads that have come in.

I call em on the phone... Hey, I've people calling me asking about XYZ, do you need more business.... answer is yes... then I explain how it works, but all of them are already familiar, because they've been buying leads from Service Magic.

So, I agree to send them 5 leads on the house so they can test the quality, after that, they pay on a per lead basis.

I've gone through 4 businesses. Currently I'm waiting to hear back from 2 guys that went through the test phase, but quite honestly, I'm sick and tired of this niche and have resentment towards the guys i've sent all this business to.

So, I'm looking for someone to outright sell this sh*t, so I can move on.

Jason, if you're a salesman, and want to tackle this, send me a pm, please.

      Tigerbait,

I pretty much have the same thing going on with Roofers. And even if they are currently buying leads from SM, you would be surprised to find out just how many of these guys are still just one-man-shows living week to week and really have no money to spend on leads.

It's tough all the way around and there's really no easy answer, but my suggestion is to stay on this angle, except only talk to these contractors at SM that are larger...because in most cases, they have money.

If you're dead set on finding someone from here to do the selling for you - good luck.

Roofing leads? PM me the area that is ranking if you're interested in selling the site as a whole. The roofing industry is one of the best niches for us and have clients across the country. Tell me the volume you're doing and the area and I'll buy it from you if you want to get rid of it!

Same to you tigerbait, depending on industry and location, if that is something you're interested in.

Instead of the pay per lead model, have you thought about doing the rent a site model? How many leads are you producing?

Thanks - yeah, it seems like most of these folks I've talked to are 1-2 man crews looking to expand. So it's possible they don't have the money. However, If a person doesn't have money, and someone sends them a few thousand dollars in new business within 10 days ($25,000 in one instance), I don't understand at all why they'd want it to stop.

I haven't thought about the Rent a Model much, Nameless. Mainly because most of these leads are moderate size tickets 500-1000 on the low end, and it seems the majority are in buying mode.

The kicker to me is whoever the lucky ******* is that agrees to buy the leads is going to have a windfall of business once I begin scaling it. Currently the site has 9,600 pages indexed in google. I haven't touched it or attempted to scale to more keywords since January/February, because I'm waiting to get a lead buyer before I invest more time/money into it.

          The leads generated since January:

          January: 4
          February: 3
          March: 15
          April: 25
May: 16 (through the first 14 days)

When I say these leads are hot, I mean last week a lead called and left a voicemail:

"I need service, and I need it today. I will pay time and a half. Please call me back".

It was probably, if I had to guess a 300-400 dollar job at the regular rate.

Right now, I have the calls going to voicemail.

If I were to sell the site, I wouldn't feel comfortable selling it cheap. I've put a lot of blood sweat and tears into this thing and it's finally producing theoretical money, as Bawls says. lmao

But it isn't producing cold hard cash.. that's the problem. Shoot me a PM with some more info, I don't care about cheap, if it makes sense for me to buy it, I will buy it. It also depends a lot on the industry and location. If it doesn't make sense for me to buy it, but I have someone around there I can easily sell the leads for you and could work out a deal.

Whoa, that's a big site. Sh*t all over my 5-pagers, why don't you.

You must have put a lot of effort into that one. Would be good to monetise it finally. Hope you get it sorted.

Selling is easy, you just have to present the product effectively
    and yes
How much money are you spending to hire some person for selling your product or as an affiliate?
you can spend less than that on PPC advertisement like Google adwords to convert more

Not sure if you've worked out a deal with Iamnameless but there may be a very viable solution through Commission Junction pay per call program that would help you finally monetize your site once and for all.

One of Commission Junction's Pay per call client's is none other than ServiceLive, Inc. Roofing, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sears Holdings Corporation.

This pay per call campaign pays $7 per call, provided the call meets their 1min+ call duration criteria. It might not seem like much but keep in mind it doesn't matter if a call turns into a paying client , however this would allow for your site to be monetized while you secure a more ideal solution. How many calls do you think your site could potentially generate. Just something to think about. Let me know which state you're currently targeting and I'll check the list of regions for this campaign. I'm an affiliate and can check the list.

By the way, are you using the Local Pages Ninja plugin to populate your site with 9,000+ pages of content? If so, I have a question for you. ** edit** I researched your posts and see that you do. I do have a question about this quote "All of the sites have a plugin that combines with LPN that helps get near instant local rankings"

I've bought quite a few wso's and have only use LPN on one site that still ranks page one for most terms.

Do you mind sharing which plugin you're referring to (All of the sites have a plugin that combines with LPN that helps get near instant local rankings?) I just want to check to see if I've got it. I know I have Core Conversion too.

It's been awhile since those plugins were released. However, during that year I bought all of those wso's, I was just an old pregnant lady, spending my husband's money to buy interesting shiny objects but I've finally gotten the focus to get ramped up after flipping a few page one ranked websites lately

Oh and if you're interested in unloading any of your lead gen sites, I have a pretty killer email template that you might find helpful.

I appreciate your follow up when you can.
LPN is really the only game in town...Sure it has its peccadilloes but in the end it flat works better than anything else going for massive site creation.
