Hi offliners,

can we claim listings for clients in 3rd party directories? Can we also, edit listings in directories for our clients?

Personally I would create an email on gmail that forwards to you in order to claim these. They are claiming them. You are just the one doing the "work" for them. That way you can hand over the accounts and the email to them should you ever part ways.

I appreciate you answering my question. If you can, clarify some things foe me:
<Personally I would create an email on gmail that forwards to you in order to claim these> I can create the gmail account, but what is forwaded to me and how is this done?

    <They are claiming them>
I have to tell my clients to claim each of the listings or have them edit them?

Digichick explained it better than I did.

You are doing the claiming on their behalf. Just like if you were an employee. If you need to phone verify you need to be there or have them be aware that the call and the code is coming.

The reason for the email address is to have an email to register this all under. One that you manage but that they "own" just as the verified listings are theirs not yours.

But the actual work you will be doing.

Why don't you just setup a new email address for the client, an email you will use to claim the account for them. Some of the accounts will require phone verification, just set an appointment with the client and do the phone verification to their phone number while you are on the other line. After the get the verification code, they just switch phone lines and give you the code and you enter it right then.

Or you could just verify it to your phone number and then change the phone number, on the listing, to their business number after verification.

Excellent post! If i am doing this type of thing for multiple clients, won't those 3rd party directories ban me , since i'll be using the same ip?

      Thanks again

So you're setting up an email address for each customer that leaves a review for each one of your clients?

If only there was a service that could help you with this...cough, cough

No, I plan on setting up an account for each client in 3rd party directories and other influential directories...not for the customers...they could have thousands of customers and that is a no no

First off. Don't do this yourself. It is the most boring mind numbing taks there is. Outsource it. I have a VA that submits my clients to about 130 biz directories and I pay her $55 to do it. What is your time worth?

Or there are several members in the WSO section and warriors for hire that will do it as well.

I do have a VA as well and might just hand it over to her to do it for me.

When you submit the information to the biz directories...are those the name of the business owner or just the name of the business?
