How to Get Your Business in Front of Over 500 Prospects Today

Seems like a hot button topic here is always, "How do I get more prospects/clients?"

Well many people don't go out and make it happen or they don't go through the proper referral process with existing clients like they should.

You should do those things, but if you want a way you can get in front of hundreds of prospects today inexpensively, then do this:

1) Buy a list in a certain niche (ie. Plumbers in Atlanta) or use a lead scraper software to pull this data. I'm not going to name any software because I don't want anyone thinking I'm promoting it.

2) Organize this data by phone number into a CSV file. So basically you have let's say 1000-2000 or more phone numbers, one per line, in a CSV file.

3) Make sure you have a nice website or landing page ready to go, specific to this niche, with a call-to-action with something of benefit you can offer (free consultation, a guide to 'seo in 2013' or maybe a free trial).

4) Upload this CSV as a CUSTOM AUDIENCE in the Facebook Power Editor. This means when you run Facebook Ads, you will ONLY show your ads to the profiles that match the phone numbers in your CSV.

5) Setup your Facebook Ads (there are many ways to do this), and test a few different pictures, headlines and ad copy.

6) Make the ads specific, ie. Attention Plumbers in Atlanta: How we bring daily leads to plumbers using unique internet strategies. (you get the point, just give them a reason to click your ad, which of course leads to your specific landing page). This will grab their attention because they are a plumber and the ad speaks to them!!

7) Wait for leads to come in and then go through your sales process.

The power of Facebook targeting cannot be ignored. You can get in front of whoever you want to work with, and then your job is to set up a proper funnel and follow-up sequence to close them.

Good luck!

Agreed....Facebook Power Editor is awesome. I have had great success using Facebook Ads for Offline Clients as well. Thanks for sharing.

Only concern I would have about this strategy, is that the phone numbers we put into the csv file would be their 'work' number, which probably isn't the same as the phone number in their facebook profile.

It sounds like a great strategy, but I'm wondering what the success rate would be for actually getting a match on the phone number.

I'm also wondering about this. I live in a town of 80,000 people and when I targeted women between the ages of 21 and 49 with children Facebook shows that my potential audience is just over 500 so I'm thinking tying to match phone numbers would cause you to miss most of those you are trying to target. Sounds good in theory, but has anyone experience much success with this strategy?

    I run a business, so I don't post theory.

You don't think many businesses are on Facebook and have their business phone number??

Why not give this a shot and see for yourself.

What are you gonna tell me next, that there aren't "roofing contractor associations" on Facebook that you can target with ads?

    Ooops...

Oooops - Guess that was kind of a snarky response.

If you'd taken the time to understand why I was asking the question, you probably would've come up with a different answer....Oh well.

Tom, no snarky here, was just trying to be clear that you should give it a shot.

How effective has this been for you? Seems pretty interesting but I would also agree that a lot of businesses aren't on facebook with their business phone, so I wonder how effective it would be? To compensate, I guess all you have to do is scrape more... it is definitely easy to get nearly an unlimited supply of leads, and I'm sure 50% of many service type of businesses have their cell phones listed so you have a pretty good chance of hitting them.

I might need to try this...

How many do you usually scrape and load? Direct traffic to the site or fan page?

    Definitely interesting.

Scraped and loaded as little as 700 before (Only 400 were found).

Site or fan page, but I prefer fan page with opt-in.

Out of curiosity, is there a certain way the numbers have to be formatted? I just pulled a list of 7,000 businesses off of infofree. When I imported the list it gave me all sorts if errors and then told me that only 20 numbers were actually associated with facebook accounts.

The two formats I have tried are:

    (xxx) xxx-xxxx
    xxx-xxx-xxxx

I guess its possible that out of 7,000 phone numbers less than 20 actually have accounts, its just seems unlikely.

You'll be happy to know that the format is actually xxxxxxxxxx.

So you will get more than 20 when you do it again.

There is an excel formula to convert it, but I need to find it.

Try again with no dashes or paranthesis and share your results.

Still says <20 on the estimated reach. Time to try a different list i guess :p.

I have never run Facebook Ads before, how long does it usually take for the ad to get approved? Its been around 30 hours now and it still shows pending. When I check the ad guidelines, it looks like it follows all of them.

Sometimes it takes 30 minutes, other times it takes 3 days. I think it also depends on the account and how frequently you advertise. My ads on my account usually are approved within an hour or two, but on some client accounts it has taken a few days.

Your reach might be low because of it being restaurants. Not many restaurants would use the restaurant location phone number on their personal account.

PS - Try this method with emails instead of phone numbers. You will see even better results.

I'm glad I read this post, I haven't actually heard of this Facebook Power Editor. It's been that long since I've ran Facebook ads that a lot has probably changed with it since I was last on.

I too initially thought that there could be a problem with people not using their business phone numbers on Facebook but suppose there is only one way to find out!

I'm hearing Sponsored Stories placement is much better than standard ads.

One person saying, instead of averaging $2 per lead
it's now down to 17 cents.

      Plus she always uses CPC.

      Best,
      Ewen

Will put more info on it when I have time.

For the poster above talking about Sponsored Stories, I ran a campaign three days ago and tested Sponsored Post vs. Regular Ad.

My Sponsored Post had a 5% CTR, and eventually I was getting down to like 10 cents a click because CTR was so high. The CPC would have continued to drop, but I paused it while I got my monetization funnel in place.

Facebook is awesome right now for traffic generation.
