Pricing your services

Hey Offliners,

how much do you charge clients, for doing postcard marketing for them? I have everything figured out, just do not know how much to charge. My clients are high-end businesses of course.

Thanks In Advance

    depends,

how much do you feel you deserve to be making? for direct mail work, i charge a percentage of sales. I only get paid when my clients do. others like to charge up front fees. for that any where between $500 - $1,500 is a good place to start. the main thing is to charge what you think you are worth. it all comes down to how you value you and your time.

    hope this helps,

I've toyed around with this a bit, but always opted out because I couldn't figure out a way to be absolutely certain I could track it (taking my fee as a percentage, that is). I like all of my clients (ok, all but one) and trust nearly all of them. That said, people forget - and some just aren't that good at what they do. How exactly do you track sales without making your clients give you access to Quickbooks, or similar?

for me, I send everything to a trackable splash page. I simply track the thank you page.

If we're talking about IM, I get it. In the real world (we're in the Offline forum) it isn't that simple. Sure, in theory you could make everyone pay via Paypal online. You'll lose a ton of opportunity though. Doctors, Lawyers, Dentists, and even Lawncare companies, would never go for it. Just the way it is.

            Why so hostile?

It depends on what you are offering...
For example. I work with this marketing company that does this think where they help lawers, dentists or any other type of company reach their local market by helping them donate to local day cares or pre schools. All we do is send a letter to these companies then they pay through PayPal.

again I track the thank you page.

anther example I set of a postcard campaign for a lawnmower service. customers are asked to go online to redeem a coupon that allows them to redeem a free lawn cut. Again its trackable.

It just takes some creative thinking. in some cases it is better to take a upfront fee but I have found that alot of companies prefer to not pay upfront if they can help it because it helps cushion the blow if the campaign turns out to be a dud. It also assures that I will work as hard as possible for them because my success is directly tied to theirs.

1.) You certainly must be getting paid for printing, postage, and design + list.
2.) Nobody tracks thank you pages for direct mail... the phone number is by far the most important.
3.) I haven't heard anyone call a landing page, a splash page in YEARS!

I kind of wonder if you really know what you're talking about... no offense. It just seems a little odd.

What's wrong with saying slash page? Is it some kinda "hip" thing...

well thank you friend for your input.. I guess I better get to reading warriorforum 2013 lingo

1.) Putting a phone number is a MUST. I do NOT believe you for a second if you try to tell us that you don't charge your clients, based on tracking of a thank you "splash" page.

2.) No, it isn't some hip thing, it is a matter of definitions. A landing page is what I would assume you're talking about... a SPLASH page is basically a flash intro... are you telling me you're sending people to a landing page or a splash page? They are different....

3.) This is exactly why I said it seems like you don't know what you're talking about.

It's different than a landing page in many ways and easily confused. Splash pages were much more common back in the day when everyone and their mother was trying their hands at aff. marketing.

A splash page is basically an 'intro' to something. For example...a video displaying a new software that automatically turns warrior forum posts into crisp $10 bills...

Landing pages are created to promote a specific thing, be it a new product, a special offer or anything else. A landing page should have good information about whatever the focus is and not just be full of fluff. It is also a place for action and should encourage the user to do something, even if it's just subscribing.

The difference between the two is huge and VITAL to someone that's 'tracking' leads.

                      Been a fan since 79

                      There are 3 elements:

                      1.Postcards
                      2.Design
                      3.Mailing it/tracking it

Can I charge a set fee for my services? The set fee would, include the design/copywriting...the rest would be additional to the set fee

They would pay for the amounts of postcards purchased
They would pay for the postage

I am pretty sure, I can do this, just wanted to get some opinions

haha that's great not yo often you see people who still enjoy good ol wrasling.

Yes a set fee is far less messy its the rout I would suggest you go.

Ether way good luck my friend

Thanks for the input. So I should charge my fee, regardless of the amount of postcards sent out monthly?

Here is what I am looking at:
    cost of postcards
    Designing them
    Sending them

The cost can be something like, 500 postcards (to start)
    The Design (outsourced)
Sending them (either eddm or non eddm)

Can I charge a flat rate, regardless of everything mentioned above?

I pretty much, know the life time value, of customers for the niches I am targeting. I am not looking to gain 20 clients at $300 a month....I am going after high, paying clients...

Any advice on this, is much appreciated....
