Lead generation landing pages vs we redesign

I'm wondering if anyone has tried this. There are so many sites that are advertising and sending their traffic to crappy websites with no calls to action or lead capture. My thought was instead of trying to sell them on a redesign why not just create them a custom landing page for their offer with built in lead capture etc. has anyone tried this method?

Hi Smartsites, it is always better to create a customized landing page that can capture the leads rather than having a website with no forms or call to action buttons.

Or you could have both? A website that captures leads without the need to create custom landing pages. The Drupal CMS gives you the ability to do both and it's why I chose it for my company.

I have had clients that are quite attached to the design of their sites for what ever reason and are not willing to change.

If they are still interested in online marketing, I usually create them a landing/sales page for the top 2-3 products/services they sell. Once they see the difference in conversions between those new pages and their old pages, they are quick to want to re-design their entire site if not their entire online marketing strategy.

Ya, lots of people create landing pages for companies to gather leads.

If you're good at it, and can make it convert, that's a great idea.

Most marketer's can't get the results they promise, and since lead gen is so easily trackable, clients quickly think the consultant is full of it and ditch the service.

    I agree with CageyVet:

A great show to watch is Bar Rescue because it shows how business owners are attached to feelings(and other crazy notions, ideas and bad information) and not attached to making money. I try to take a similar approach with my clients as that shows does with the Bars he tries to help.

I am here to help, they are obviously doing it wrong, I am showing them how to do it right and it is my way or the highway. I "tell" them what they need to change (do not just suggest) and if they do not want to for what ever reason other than monetary constraints, I usually just move on. Not worth the time and hassle when there are businesses that are more than willing to accept much needed help.
