I Want To Do Lead Generation For Local Businesses, Can I Outsource It?

I am looking for some direction here...

I have looked all over the Forum and I can't seem to find anyone who specifically will build and manage lead gen sites for me. I would also be willing to pay for PPC leads as well. Should I simply be posting in the Warriors Looking To Hire You Section? Should I be hiring a PPC coach?

Is it just that anyone doing lead gen will not find it worth their time to be just a wholesaler of sorts?

I am a sales rep and I have good relationships in 3 industries/niches all with a high average sale. I would be able to prequalify the leads and I don't think I would charge per lead but rather per sale, it would be more fair to my clients/friends and it would be more lucrative for me that way.

I'm no good at SEO or PPC or web design. I am willing to learn but I believe my time is best spent selling. I have looked at options like being a reseller for elocallisting.com (scam) and I know some are using sites like reply.com to do PPC.

What's the best route to go here? Thanks.

So you are looking to have someone build and maintain lead generation sites (ppc as well maybe) that will send leads to you directly. Then you pre-qualify those leads, then send them to your business clients and get paid a per sale flat rate or %.....

If this is what you are looking for...are you looking to pay this lead gen person per lead, flat fee(or hourly rate) or give them money from the per sale deal that you have with the clients? The reason why I ask this is because if you are going to pay per lead, then you will still have to pay what the end client pays if the leads were going directly to them. There is no reason why a lead gen IM person would discount their leads when they could get full price sending them to the end client themselves. If it is a flat fee per site per month or hourly rate per month, then you will know your fixed costs but the traffic/leads might suffer since there is no incentive. If you are going a portion of the per sale, then it would probably be a decent chunk of your cash from each sale since it has to be profitable for the lead gen IM person to do the work.

I do not know of many independent lead gen IM'rs that wholesale out their leads to a middle man because most can get more money from going straight to the clients themselves. So if you are ok with paying what the client would pay per lead, then tacking on your own fee/pricing model on top for your pre-qualification services...then I think it would work out for you.

The other route to take is to not even worry about a "Lead Gen Person". Find a decent web designer, a good SEO person/company, a good PPC person/company and a good IM project manager(oh and maybe a minion to do odd tasks). You put all of this together and you have a lead generation site building team. This way you have a nice business that you control and own every facet....

IF you structure the company and business model properly, it can be easily started as well as expanded depending on the amount of clients you take on.

  • Hi Cageyvet,

    Thanks for your response.

I agree with you that it makes sense for a lead gen person to go direct to the biz owner rather than have a middle man, especially since you don't really need to be local to run a lead gen biz. However, I have to believe that there are: 1. VA's or overseas companies (phillipines) who do lead gen who would love to more of it or 2. US people doing lead gen locally who have had a tough time finding clients in other markets and would be willing to discount their leads and 3. There are always going to be business owners who want to business with a local guy they can talk with face to face and end a meeting with a handshake. I may sound old fashioned here but as a salesman I encounter those types of owners all the time.

I completely agree with your business model. Again I was hoping to find a person or company, possibly foreign based, that did the design, SEO, and PPC. But it loos as though you are correct. I will probably have to sub out each part of the business separately as opposed to finding a one stop shop.

Again, thanks for responding to my post, I appreciate your comments.

Oh I am sure that there are overseas people that might be interested in doing a lot of the work for you and I am guessing that there might be even a few offshore lead gen people that might be interested in having someone be hands/feet in a local city for them.

I also see the value in a face to face sales man as well as a person that can qualify leads so that it can be a per sale model instead of per lead. Since as you state, it is more lucrative for both parties....

If you are looking for a company to take care of design, seo and possibly PPC. I guarantee that there are a few hundred that would be more than willing to do that for you. Tons of offshore IM companies that will do almost everything under the sun for you....Now will they have any experience in the lead gen market, who knows. Definitely not like someone that does Lead Gen full time.

So if you have the time to manage an outsourcer in the realm of lead gen sites, as well as do the pre-qualification/sales...then going with a one stop shop will work well. If you do not have time, then having a decent web designer that has knowledge of a good local theme, an SEO that knows good local tactics to drive phone calls not just google traffic, a good PM that understands your business idea and can keep the technical business running well is probably a much better bet and will take much less time to manage in the long run.

I hope this business venture works out for you and post some stories/results...

I agree with CageyVet about outsourcing being your best options.

What I would do is mind map your business model then find people who will do the work that you cant.

Bring all the parts together and implement the system.

I will send you my out soucing report when I finish writing it.

      Regards James

Doing online marketing for offline clients is lead generation.
Whether it is a lead gen site your building or a more elaborate funnel using Google local, Facebook etc.
There are many on here, including myself that build these for clients all day long, what it appears you need is to build these 'funnels' for yourself then either sell off the leads or rent out the site for a monthly fee.
Whatever route you take you should make sure that you own the sites, they will become a valuable asset in time.

Next month I'm releasing a product that shows people exactly how to build, rank and optimize these local lead gen sites on a step-by-step basis. If you'd like to know more drop me a pm.

      Thanks
      I just pm'ed you.

Have you released the training program that you were talking about yet?

I would like to know more about it.

      Thanks.

I know a lot of folks that sign up for White Label services just to be able to easily do what you're talking about.

Tons of resources not only on here but in other offline forums.

Look into white label SEO, white label lead generation, etc.

    Hope that helps.
