"Okay, here's the secret to scaling up your offline business..."
I often hear offline marketers ask questions about how to scale up and grow their offline business.
However, what I really hear in that question is "How do I get more clients." So, even though they're asking about how to scale up, it's really all about lead generation.
So, in that context, it's safe to say that most of us want to scale up our offline businesses.
However, when a offline marketer is truly trying to scale up their entire offline business versus ONLY needing more clients, most try to scale up way too early.
I came across a funny but true little analogy today that really sums up the way in which you should scale up your offline business.
It went like this:
1. Go get a duck.
2. Do something useful with that duck.
3. Get more ducks.
4. THEN get your ducks in a row.
See, the truth is that you shouldn't worry about scaling up until you have something worth scaling up.
And this is where most offline marketers fall down.
Most offline marketers don't take the time to get one complete system documented and planned out. If you don't have this, then you are not in a position to scale up responsibly.
And just to be clear, you don't have to have dozens of clients in order to start documenting your system. You can start documenting your system when you have even one customer.
Heck, you should be creating your systems BEFORE you have one client.
But, the truth of the matter is, you probably shouldn't worry about scaling anything up until you have proven systems that can get consistent, reliable and predictable results.
Can you attempt to scale up any way?
Of course.
But it's like sitting in a chair that's supposed to have four legs, but only has three.
So, it can kinda works as long as you keep your balance, but the moment you get tired, nudged in a different direction or lose focus, it all comes tumbling down.
Your goal should be to build your offline business on predictable, stable and profitable systems that allow you to have a real business that can produce your desired income for as many years as you want.
