Signing local clothing brands

Hi,

One of my friends has recently launched a local clothing brand amd I want to show him how I can help him in the future with his marketing and online needs. They do enjoy doing the social media side of it but I want him to see the value of having someone else do it for them while they work on expanding their brand.

Granted, they did just start a month ago and have sold out of all their stock already but I want him to think of me in the future when they are ready for the marketing and online store.

How can I do that? Should I put together a presentation for him and his business partners or should I just explain the benefits to him and hope they choose me for all that in the future? Also, how much do you think I should charge if I did do an e-commerce store for them in the future? Not including the marketing and branding for them.

    Hi there,

This is a bad sign, unless they have some sort of customer database that is crying out for more "what-they-make". It would be unwise of you to get involved and invest time and effort when it sounds like they're not a real business-minded outfit. No pun intended.

    All the best,

    Sasha.

What makes you say "they're not a real business-minded outfit?"

In short (although the answer to this can be very long):

Either you do as you've said, make a presentation for your friends and hope for the best, or you tell them that you will build and run their business on-line and you'll take the percentage of turnover you make doing that.

    Take a pick!

Best of luck in whatever you decide!
