Great Local Marketing Videos

I'm trying to get ideas for creating great looking and converting local business videos. Most of what I see and have made are slideshow vids, as they are quick and easy, but they are often stale and don't convert and engage the viewer.

I'm trying to take it up a notch and would love to see some examples of "videos well done" in the local space.

What are some of the kick-ass videos that you've seen or even made that would do a local client proud, and also produce a call, click, or lead?

The best videos are live and feature the owner of the business (or a good employee). They convert the best, and the client is invested. Of course, you include contact information on the video.

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

Here is a sample of what we do. The call to action closing link generated over 70 RSVP's in three days. The capacity of the event is 100.

Absolutely well done. You guys do fantastic, quality work. I'm continually inspired by the stuff you guys put out (and to be honest - steal as much as possible. As in, learning tips, tricks, and ideas - not stealing your footage). Imitation is the greatest form of flattery, and all that...

To the OP, I've had good luck with things like this. Very different from what was mentioned above, and from a technical standpoint they certainly aren't on par, but there is a market for them. They also convert very well:

There is definite value in these type of videos. I like them more than Whiteboards, and you did a great job with this one.

There is definitely a market for it, and they are pretty simple to make with the right template. Good work and thanks for sharing.

Yep. Not a whole ton of technical expertise there once you figure things out. As Claude would likely say, "the money is in the script". Gotta make it look pretty though.

Do you use a template? If you do, could I ask what it is and where to get it. I like the video better than most slide show videos. Thanks.

To me, there are really only a few different "levels" of videos....

                1. Entry Level: This would be the typical slide-show stuff you make with Animoto - which imo, suck!

                2. Mid-Level: This is for the DIY type of person that doesn't want to spend a lot of $$, has some technical skills, and wants something that looks pretty good. For that, you could probably do
                • Something with ScreenFlow (like Marty S does).
                • Grab an Adobe After Effects template from After Effects Project Files | VideoHive and create a generic (yet good looking) video.
                • Shoot your own video of the owner/business or create animated videos (like Claude does.)
                3. High-End: Here, you're paying for full video shoot, editing...blah blah blah. Obviously, this is big $$$ in most cases.

Personally, I've had pretty good success generating mainly phone calls (and a few emails) for leadgen sites using the After Effects templates. I'm not sure anyone here can give you a definitive answer on what absolutely works best for every situation, as I would imagine it would depend on their own experience.

You might just have to test a few different kinds to see what converts the best.

It's an Aftereffects template from videohive (see above link). I do a lot of stuff that I actually shoot myself for local clients, but I'm not on par with Rollmodl (yet). Stuff like this:

                http://youtu.be/3oSL9k-DkPE

No script, and aside from the obvious no real selling. I work with a lot of charter captains.Their clients like to see what a day on their boat will like. I'll spend a day with them filming, doing what I enjoy, and get paid for it. Then I turn the one "main" video into 20 "similar" videos, and rank them. Pretty decent gig, along with the web design and what not.

What are you charging for that? (Is it kosher to ask rates, here?)
Seems like a fair amount of work.

What can I say other than...AWESOME!

This is the power of video at work my friend, and looks like you've mastered it.

Thanks for sharing what you do, it's unique, valuable, and highly effective.

Imagine I want to rank a video for a local company in Ireland, but if I am in another country like Spain or France or the UK for a few months, and if during those few months I create the video and rank it using good keywords, backinks, social bookmarks etc. then is that a complete waste of time?

Is it the case that Google will rank the video high for Google.co.uk or Google.fr or Google.es or whatever country I happen to be in when I do the optimization stuff, rather than my target market of Google.ie? (which of course is the primary search engine in terms of appeal to local businesses in Ireland)

Is that the case or is it a misconception?
