How to get a SEO client may be through offline or online?

Hi

I have been working on SEO, but have never launched website offering the services. However, I do have knowledge about SEO and I have pretty much knowlege about buiding some good links like Press Release etc.,

As of now the SEO is almost going complete in different direction, till now I was getting project form one of the SEO provider who has stopped as he has lost his own ranking.

I am now out of work, but I do have good knowledge about certain SEO aspects. How best I can get clients for my services? I tried couple like email marketing and forum marketing but did not have much success.

Can I get a good guide and references to learn how to get clients and offer them my SEO services or link building services?

Thanks, I have read through couple of WSO's but it did not give me the results I am expecting. I stay in India, so I am not sure how effectively I can target people looking for SEO outside India. India is not that potential market for SEO as of now.

Can you please give me some references to wso you are speaking, I am looking for something a full proof as many of the WSO's do just give false assurances.

    HI there,

You don't sound like you're very confident in your offering. Maybe you should partner with someone with some sales experience and split the profits with them.

    All the best,

    Sasha,

I agree with the above posted. Also, to add, my clients are bombarded with outsourced SEO work from India (I'm in the US) and every business I've ever been apart of has reported the same results.

You could also try and sign up for one of the freelance services (doing a Google search will produce about a 100 results) and working on those for a while.

Search for different keyword, and directly contact them and offer your SEO services. YOU must have great written email copy with stats ( How SEO can help them )

    Thanks

    Thanks the comments.

I really got some good input, I will note these inputs and try out my best what I can do.

As regards comment about SEO from India, I do not think that every Indian SEO has the problem. I have personally seen many clients on whom I worked have pretty much on first page. When penguin rolled out some of them have dropped but not much, still many of them are on first page for long tail keywords.

But the problem what I have is, I cannot show them as my work profile as the same was outsourced to me by another SEO provider.

However, Jaynine has advice to join freelance services which I feel is a good advice. Also Pingsters has adviced for email marketing. I think I can try both of this, I will make my best effort.

Thanks a lot for all your inputs.

oDesk or eLance. One tip if you go this route. When you respond to job postings, personalize your response as much as possible. I hate that I get 20 canned responses when I post a job. I don't even look at them because I don't think they are actually interested in the job. They just want to make money.

More than anything, if you want to make this unfortunate experience have a happy ending, you're going to need to get some customers of your own. It's easy to have someone feed you work, but going out and finding it is one of those hurdles people have to get over if they're going to be successful.

So, find some businesses without websites. Look for local businesses, that's where all the action is these days. It's easy to get a car repair shop up to the top of google for a medium sized town just by fixing up the profile and showing them how to get some reviews. Build them a simple template website and a mobile website. Most small business owners are helpless in the sea of marketing.

You enable commerce. You bring them customers. You will be welcome.

There are scores of methods you can use to get new SEO clients, you don't even have to be creative. Search Google for free tutorials on how to get SEO clients, I just wrote one myself and published it on my blog yesterday as it happens.

Try getting some references and more exp from elance or odesk. When you get some, just market the sh** out of your service and be more confident in your service.

Varsrad, Stop looking here and there for getting clients. Eveny if you try to approach the first question they asked is
    1. Show me the website which you worked recently and keyword and position.

So, the easy method to get client is PRoof.. Proof.. Proof..

This only really works, so, just start your own website for any one keyword ranking and show the proof in your website. People will automatically comes ..

I always hear that it's best to find clients who are already spending money on advertising. If you could research a few companies first, estimate their current SEO situation, and offer them a solution, it may help. :-)
