Who Else Wants A Piece Of The 10 Trillion $ Pie?

That's the figure been trotted out to value the worth of Baby Boomers businesses about to be sold.

You may of read about how the Baby Boomers have controlled a large part, in many cases, the majority of spending since they were born.

Now since they control the majority of small to medium sized business,
are about to retire they will have
a problem.

They will have to sell because they don't have family willing or capable
to take over their business.

A perfect storm is about to happen.

2 forces are combining to create a bloodbath for them and opportunity for others.

First storm. The owners will have an over inflated valuation of their business. The value is in their head.
They don't have systems and technology running the show.
Would-be buyers are younger than them and want to see the technology
used to make running the show smoother.

Second storm. The sheer numbers of Boomer businesses coming on to the market will cause a flood of sellers out numbering the buyers.

This will wipe out funded retirement plans as many don't have a nest egg.

They have gambled their plan on a non existent lump sum coming from the sale of their business.

Here's your $$$ opportunity.

Help these Baby Boomers make their businesses sale-able.

They need you.

By bringing in new technology they don't understand, but a buyer wants.

It may not add more revenue,
but if it makes the business run easier, still makes the market value of the business go up.

An easier business to run is the selling point.

The younger buyer doesn't want what their granddad had.

It's like torture to them.

Getting this information in front of these Baby Boomer business owners is needed to save their ass.

Much dunero at stake here, so there's going to be some people get filthy rich getting there businesses
polished for sale.

Will you be one of them?

Best,
Ewen

It presents a good oppty to take over some good established businesses and apply modern information, net based tools etc... There are a staggering amount of stable boomer businesses that are in the dark ages, using fax machines, some email, and have never heard of IM.

One way to make some GOOD moola (or, if you are Muslim it's "Moolah") from this is to provide "Promo Videos" of the business.

In fact, you can offer this "service" to ANY Small Business.

MAKE 2 to 3 MINUTE "PROMOTIONAL" VIDEOS OF SMALL BUSINESSES!!!

This INCLUDES businesses that are NOT interested in "Selling" their biz... in the near future BUT...someday...when the time comes, they can use YOUR "Promo" Video to help sell it!

      So....what's involved?
Simply make up 2 or 3 Sample Videos (I'll tell how you do this, down below) Burn them to DVDs. Go to Wal-Mart and buy a "Portable DVD Player ($90) Put your DVDs into the Player.

Walk into ANY small business where the owner makes decisions (and can give you a Check).....ask to see the Owner (I'm pretty Brazen and will ask to see, either "The Boss" or "The Person Who Writes The Checks").....ask if you can "Take a Minute" to SHOW something that can help them get more business..

Set the Portable DVD Player on ANY flat surface (I've set mine down on MANY Bars as the owner was eating a late lunch in his/her restaurant)

NOTE: I've "caught" many Plumbers, Electricians, General Contractors, HVAC, Painters, Landscapers etc....... at 6:30am as they were getting their crews ready for the day. I've also caught the "bosses" after 3pm in their offices.

      Now....I make the Sample Videos by;
      1) Taking 10 or 12 Digital Photos (Restaurants: I snap an Outside, 4 or 5 insides, 3 or 4 Food Plates, 2 or 3 employees and a shot of the owner)
      2) Place these photos into a Text Folder.
      3) Open PhotoStory3.....make a Video (using the Scan & Zoom features)...add background music and burn a DVD

NOTE: Real Estate Agents on Craig;s List place ads for their Listings. Many of these Ads bring up 8 to 10 Photos which can be made into Videos and SOLD to the Agents.

And....one of my Favorite Sayings is: ADVERTISE YOUR BUSINESS or ADVERTISE IT FOR SALE!

Consumers LOVE Videos! They Stir Up EMOTIONS! Music...Movement....excitement.....Unlike plain ol' Photos

Again.....these Videos can be used to help Sell the biz!

      Don Alm.....emotional guy

    Another great post, Ewen!

All kinds of ways to carve up cash flow and cash value.

Just takes some thought, research and some action.

But most importantly though, none of your own money!

  • Good post Ewen.

Instead of consulting these businesses, why not buy one (or two or three) and then automate it so it runs smoothly and keep the profits.

    Just a thought.

Storm number three is impending illness.

Consider the terrible physical condition a good
number of the boomers are in. Taking prescribed
meds.just to maintain their current state.

Their health will only decline with time.

    Nothing creates motivation like illness.

Well, outside of death that is.

      So true.

Many listed businesses for sale are listed because of
ill health, business and personal partner break ups.

Never prepared for them and become distressed sales.

Some people target these types of businesses and have a
philosophy of Buy, Build And Sell.

They have no problem low balling and even sending in others
with low ball offers to soften them in their moment of desperation.

      Best,
      Ewen
