Searching SM channels' content

Is there a way to search for content on FB or other SM channels to see who ,when , how many etc people are mentioning certain terms, other than going in via FB ads etc

You know like Google keyword tool gives you pointers as to the numbers of searches, is there anything like that re SM channels, if not is it possible ie worth looking at developing such a solution ?

    I have not come across that tool that does that. One site that I like to use is social mention, it only gives you content the keyword of your choice.

    I am also interested with a tool like that. If you find it, let me know.
