The Challenge is ON now!

For all you newbies out there and even for those more experienced, Ed Dale's Challenge is on. The Challenge

Happened to come across it yesterday while learning the new Keyword Planner. It's been on for 6 days and it requires 30 minutes minimum daily but I am already up to speed and so can you. If for nothing else, an excellent way of learning,

Eva

Oh, btw, it is all free

Same here, still, you have to learn to accept that we do live in a "FB" world and I am willing to make the sacrifice to get there,

ditto, why should my contacts, many of whom are also clients, see that I am going to do a 30 day training challenge. They wont realise its cutting edge in many areas.

Whoooa shame you cannot overcome that little FB issue as you will miss out on some quality information.

I have followed Ed Dales challenge over the years and many of the ideas have helped me build a busy sustainable online business.

So guess what a little bit of give on how you sign in does not phase me one bit.

Perhaps a separate Facebook account for this. One protesting joining sites via Facebook

I've been doing the Challenge since the 2008, and it is highly recommended.

I've had a Facebook page for at least a year or two, and check in at least once a year . So I really don't have much to worry about there.

But refusing to do The Challenge only because they use a Facebook login is very much like cutting off your nose to spite your face. But it does all come down to personal choices.

This year, The Challenge platform is the Kindle, and so far, the training has been fantastic. It appears that making the first dollar online will be selling something on the Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) platform. Since I've been looking at publishing a book, this training is most timely.

If anyone wants to start and get caught up, there is no training or action items for tomorrow (Saturday) except to get caught up if you need it, or rest if you don't.

Thank you for your input, it wasn't too long ago that the Kindle/writing a book to build your credibility was discussed in this forum,

I have done the Challenge (formerly Thirty Day Challenge) several times. It's where I learned the foundations of "internet marketing". I have seen the notices about the new Challenge on Facebook, but didn't know it was Kindle related. I will definitely check it out. I hope I can log in with my old login. If not, then it will be via Facebook. Ed Dale never disappoints.

Please don't take this wrong....but if you have been doing the Challenge since 2008, shouldn't you be an expert by now and not need to Challenge yourself anymore? Or make your own Challenge Course and monetize the training?

      :-)

Can't speak for anyone else, but from what some posted on the forum, they do it to help support newbies. I don't know what they've done with their work from the previous challenges (i.e. if they're still making money/if they've scaled/etc.). But just like on WF having people who can help explain "sticking points" further is very helpful.

Ed, Jon, Dan, Bob, Nez & John can't be on the forums 24/7. And with the points system (you received points for starting a number of threads too) threads get buried quickly.

And this year it was a totally new format, Kindle, so even those who have been there from the gate would benefit from it being "newbies" as well.

I plan on doing each challenge to help others too.

The boyz do this to Pay if Forward to others.

I similarly have followed the challenge over the years as there is always something to learn.

Ed Dale and his team have put in a huge amount of time, money and effort to bring cutting edge strategies to Challenge followers and no matter what your level of expertise you will come away with something of value.

Things change, and one thing about the people running the Challenge is that are almost always at the forefront of the next "big thing." And as Retirewithsandie said, a lot of people who return do it not only to keep up on what is working, but to help people who are new.

I don't consider myself an expert, but I do have a very broad knowledge of the processes involved and can generally see the big picture. Newcomers rarely see the whole picture and get stuck concentrating on things that are relatively unimportant.

Currently being in 2nd place (changes with the wind direction) on the leader board also gives me a further bit of credibility that I can use to help others.

So I also plan on taking the Challenge next year as well... assuming it will be offered.

Try it, you might well end up liking it as well .

Joining or not joining is going to be a moot point shortly (if it isn't already.) An email from Ed Dale yesterday saying the last chance to sign up is now.

There are a lot of ways to learn this stuff, but the Challenge is the most complete of anything I've seen. It runs through the entire procedure without assuming (like almost all other IM stuff) that someone already knows some other critical part of the process.

I wonder why so many people who have taken the Challenge return each year?

On a related topic, I talked to a lot of people at a convention yesterday about taking the Challenge. Some were interested and will take action. Others will continue on their own.

    Marvin

PS - Signing in with Facebook, the user is given a choice to sharing or not sharing messages with their friends.

I see a lot of people have at least peaked at the thread, many more might even have taken action and joined instead of making FB the issue here. I am in the middle of learning more and more, all in the matter of days and things I did not know "how" to before.

Whether or not I will finish the Challenge or not is of no importance to me, I will continue to follow along as far as I am capable and in the end, I will most definitely come out ahead. No need to spend any wso money either, it is all free,

I did it repeatedly because I learned something new each time. I learned about WordPress because it was talked about on this or any other IM forum.
In those days, I could get to the top of the SERPs with a keyword domain in a few hours. (Sigh....the good old days) I also learned about Twitter and Tumblr years before they became huge.

You are naming the reasons I keep coming back as well. I got my basic background in Internet Marketing through the 30DC, and owe Ed and team a lot. What I also like a LOT is the teaching... besides being first class, it is always state-of-the-art. And unlike a lot of information being passed around, it is based on their experience actually doing this stuff a lot more than once.

The 30DC is an awesome thing for newcomers in the internet marketing industry.

I will probably join too since i have some domains/sites up.

I was wondering if i were to join to i need to buy a new domain for this or i can just use one domain i have or a site that is already build but has no traffic at all.

Not sure if it is possible to still join, wouldn't worry about a domain at this stage,

Since the platform this year is the Kindle, I don't think building a website is part of the Challenge (could be wrong though and it might be done later.)

So far, the topics have included market research to find a niche, writing a list of the top influencers in that niche, writing a list of the top problems in that niche, and a few other topics all designed to give enough knowledge to publish on the Kindle.

The forum also provides a lot of help.

But I would not wait any longer to join. People who join after the Challenge begins (if they can even join now) will start to lose the advantage of other people being able to help as they move towards getting their project published.

I fell behind I misunderstood something earlier on so I had to re-do those steps so just decided that once it was over, that I would just redo it on my own.

They're keeping the training up for 60 days I think because a lot of folks had to re-do niche selection & some other things or just plain fell behind because of the actual time required to do some of the steps.

So I'm restarting it tomorrow & taking my time going through it all.

One of my frequent comments is that beginners generally don't have the perspective to know what is important and what is not. That makes it very easy to get bogged down in things that not important in the long run.

I published, and thus successfully finished the Challenge.

What I still think funny is I was looking at some Kindle courses with the intent of buying before the Challenge came along. Then I found out the Kindle platform was what they were teaching.

This challenge looks great. It looks like they'll keep it up for 60 days. How is your book doing? Do the trainings cover anything about promoting your books or bringing traffic to it, thus generating sales?

I have a few books that I've published just recently so I'm curious to see if there's anything that I should have done differently.

The Amazon dashboard when checked last night showed 3 sales, but then showed 1 with no refunds. At this point, I don't trust it . But it has only been live now for about 14 hours or so, and email was sent out to only one small highly targeted listserver.

The trainings includes putting up a website, and the use of social media (including Facebook) to bring in traffic. They also present a tool for tracking Amazon stats, and that is major exciting to me.

And while the forum activity is slowing up now that the 30 days are over, there are still some very knowledgeable people checking in who are more than willing to help... just have to get their attention .

Yes, they said the training will be up for 60 days, but I expect many of the participants will greatly slow down their forum activity. So it is better to get in now than later. I'm already seeing forum activity on the early weeks of training slowing up.
