Method to filter ice cold prospects?!!!?

Helloooo guys,

So I'm going to be starting my direct mail campaign soon!!! Will let you know of results.

Now I got this idea I wanted to test, it's from IM legend Frank Kern.

The whole premise is making it easier for businesses to get further details about my offer. This would be without them having the fear of calling to get pitched.

So therefore we are lowering a barrier of resistance.

A prospect may get a mailer or postcard and might be interested. Sometimes they maybe a bit fearful of calling because they feel someone will try to hard sell em'.

So one way to get around this is to give them easy response routes. Ex...

1. Text a word to a short code and get all the details

2. Text name and email to number to get all the details.

3. Call to get details and leave their name/ phone number.

These are low risk and the prospect can gather additional info without hassle. It's a lot easier and faster for them as well.

This is NOT my idea but I thought it was pretty cool.

My question is where do I find the short code, number and everything.

Who provides that service???

Wouldn't lowering the barrier of resistance also lower the quality of the lead?

If you're selling something, the best way to do that is to talk to someone. A postcard can't talk back, address objections, answer questions...

Also, don't you want to answer the phone when they call? What happens if someone wants to buy right now?

Of course I would but its more for them I suppose. To make them feel more comfortable...

I don't think the method he's talking about is to replace the selling, it's to lower resistance to responding to the opt in. And I think it's a variation of the old Gary Halbert method of advertising a call in number people can then call and hear a one minute or so pitch to get them to leave their name and phone number.

        Yup....I used Gary's technique when I created a software program that would...;
        1) "show business owners what a Business is Worth"..
        2) "within 30 minutes"
        3) "in the privacy of their office"

I got this idea for this program when I received a notice at our Antique Shoppe from our local Community College. They were having a seminar on "How To Find What Your Business Is Worth".

The seminar was to be held in 30 days in a classroom off the main lunch room. The clerk told me to phone the day b4 to see whether it was not cancelled.

So....the day b4, I phoned the clerk and she told me that not only was it still ON but due to the 187 sign-ups, it would be held in the MAIN Lunch room.

So....I arrived early and saw many of my advertising clients.

I went over to one and said; "Hey Marty! You getting ready to sell your biz?" He replied that, he was CURIOUS and just would like to find out how to "Put a Number to his biz!"....without having to pay big bux to a Business Appraiser.

I asked a few others and they ALL gave the same response; They'd just like to "get an idea of what their biz was worth!"

So....I took the course (which was excellent) and received a Manual.

THIS experience gave me one of my "HOT FLASHES"!

Why don't I create a software program...and sell it to business owners?

I found a local programmer guy who created a program I named, "BIZ-WORTH". ($2,400) The main stipulation was, it HAD TO fit on a Floppy Disk.

So....a few days later, I had the program...."Biz-Worth"....and I then made a PostCard that I proceeded to mail to Biz Owners.

The postcard said (using Gary's lingo) "FREE RECORDED MESSAGE REVEALS....HOW TO DETERMINE THE WORTH OF YOUR BUSINESS...IN 30 MINUTES...IN THE COMFORT OF YOUR OFFICE! Phone 324-32-8852 anytime!"

Initially I charged $97 and eventually went to $47 and sold hundreds.

All from an "Idea" and taking action.

Are you coming up with this shortcode idea or did Frank Kern specifically mention it? I don't see him ever saying something like text shortcodes used in this manner.

You can go direct to a wholesaler like Lime.
Or you can buy from someone who sells Text Marketing Services (DIY or managed).

But you will be on a shared short code. Getting your own code will likely cost too much based on what I think you will be doing so I would not recommend it.

I do a little SMS on the side for local businesses. If you have questions you think I could help with feel free to ask here or via PM.
