Anybody Still Use crack? Help Me Help Myself
Ill try to keep it short and to the point.
Basically about 2 years ago I moved to away to a new city under the impression that there was a good stable job waiting for me there.
Well unfortunately after signing an apartment lease, the employment opportunity fell through.
So there I was, looking stupid, wondering how in the hell I was going to pay the rent. I took a serving job at the local Cheddars restaurant but could only get like 20 hrs a week and the money was just awful.
Shit was troublesome to say the least.
So Naturally I began searching the google for ways to make money online. HAHA Thats my generation for ya.
Well somehow I stumbled upon this thing called "Offline on CRACK" that essentially gave you a system for cold calling local businesses and offering them web design services. I didn't really have anything to lose and figured I was going to be evicted anyway so I thought "what the hell" I'll give it a try.
Well let me tell you, I didn't get rich by any means, but from the day I picked up the phone I was able to pay my rent. I had never made a website in my life, or sold anything over my cell phone other than...
To be honest, I actually enjoyed the whole thing. I'd call these businesses up, schedule a meeting, walk in the establishment and close those fools. What makes it even better is that when I would get finished with the site, my clients would always tell me how great of a job I did.
So I did this until my lease was nearly up and then out of nowhere father called me and told me that he had found me a job (well paying to my standards) back in my hometown. Not wanting to seem ungrateful towards him, along with missing my old friends and family, I decided to take him up on his offer.
Well I've been working the 9-5 for the past year but just recently they decided to lay off 50 people. I was one of them.
My first thought was "Screw them, Ill start the web design company up again, do it even better than you did before, really take it serious this time, and try to scale it into something bigger"
What do you guys think about this? Is there still room for something like this out there or is the market completely saturated? Is there something better I could sell? Or maybe I could offer more than just web design. Maybe a full service small business marketing company, on and offline. Hell, maybe the whole business model should be changed.
ALSO, I thought Id search for the guy who made that program "John Durham"...
Well I found him and hes been BANNED. His forum is also trashed. Does anybody know the details of what happened to this dude?
Basically Im just looking for a little guidance on what steps you guys think I should take to get back in the game. Whats working nowadays?
Thanks in advance.
