How to use PPC for offline services

I'm not sure, but I paid 1.86 a click to drive traffic to my computer services site.

Shield Computer Repair and Internet Marketing

I need some help on how to do this right.

What keywords do I use? whats bidding?

i'm lost. I got 11 clicks the first day, 9 from Display network, and 2 from searches. I spent 11 bucks.

No Calls.

Welcome to the world of PPC.

First off 11 clicks is not a big enough sample size to draw any conclusions from, you need to invest more into testing.

I'd be apprehensive to tell you any specific info as you don't seem to know too much about Adwords, that's a very dangerous game.

You're best off learning a few things first..

What are your buyers typing into Google?
Create an ad that appeals to them
Once they get onto your site what do they do?
Can you change things to make more of them buy?
Is the display network worth your time?
    Who are you targeting?
Are they local enough to even use your services?
etc etc etc etc etc x 1 bajillion

You're at the start of a very long journey mate, educate yourself and take another go at it.

Your website needs a complete overhaul.

People may have some advice, but the best thing would be for someone to look at your campaign and see what you have done. However, don't continue PPC until you get your website right.

Alternatives? What kind of budget do you have?

Side note, you don't need to open several threads for the same thing.

Thanks, I just ask questions as they arise. Excuse my annoyance, but I'm hungry for knowledge.

My budget for advertising at the moment is around 500 dollars.

    Hi Happy,

    You need a better website.
You should use free listings for the time being until you have that done - otherwise you will spend money on PPC and get a massive bounce rate rendering all cash spent useless.

Use Craiglists / Gumtree / ETC for the time being - try and trickle some work in whilst you build a new website.

Build it yourself - download a wordpress theme for free - don't pay a developer at this point if you only have such a small budget. You will find themes easily.

Make sure the theme is mobile ready so it can be viewed easily on mobiles and tablets - they are unlikely to be using a browser if their PC is broken

Transfer them to your existing domain. You will have a brand new website for free as you already have hosting on your current one.

Get vouchers for PPC, you should be able to get an adwords voucher if not i'll dig you one up.

Before you spend any money do some keyword research. Use the Google keyword planner you can find online in order to get a good list of 10-15 keywords. Localise the keywords and qualify them as much as you possibly can so you only spend your budget on qualified traffic. Do not use the display network at this point.

Make sure the traffic goes to the correct landing page. So your cracked screen keywords should go to a apge on your website about crack screens. Laptop repairs to laptop repaits. etc etc.

Monitor your inbound closely and make sure your price are competitive and on the website.

Make a Facebook page. Get a voucher advertise on there channelling people to your new site and try and pick up jobs from friends and family. I've found word of mouth is the most effective marketing strategy in your line of industry.

I work with 100's of clients following similar methods effectively - if you need any more advice feel free to ask.

Thanks! Yes, I got a 100 dollar voucher for google, and a 50 dollar for facebook. I have a facebook. I started with a wordpress theme, and then started from scratch because I felt the wordpress was too themey. I guess its not what I want, it's what will convert though, right?

It will convert better than the site you have at the moment! (no offence)

Don't use your vouchers yet as you can't re use vouchers on the same domain! In regards to the free adverts. Just be persistent with them - they do work. If they didn't other people wouldn't do them. The likely hood is that you are writing them wrong or they are unappealing in some way or another. Try writing a few different ones and see which one gets a response, if any. Then keep improving them and improve your acquisition rate that way.

Would you post some of your ads here so we could critique them?

Also, it might be a good idea to try Facebook or Student Rooms etc too.

Bing/Microsoft Ad center has a $75 free coupon too.

But what others have said is true - especially if your paying per click - first impressions are everything. For a guy who owns a computer repair service it sure, your website sure looks a little lack luster. By cleaning up your website, you'll improve your conversion rate. Consider adding more content (maybe hiring a copywriter) and add a call to action on your homepage.

I have 2 PC repair clients and if you can't wait for organic SEO, I would strongly suggest Craigslist, leads are pretty good there. Also, get off your butt, get out from behind your PC and into your community. Start shaking hands, drop off business cards, at local small businesses and get your name out there.

Thanks. I tried craigslist, to no avail. I'm sure you are right.

      2 issues:

Spam. Im in the DFW area. LOTS of traffic on craigslist. What's the strategy? My wife can do the posts while I'm out working.

I can't get any leads of CL, Backpage, or free classifieds. The only way I've ever gotten leads is:

      Community Bulletin,
      Colleges
      Referrals
      Flyers.

I'm not sure what you mean by "spam" is the cause. I have live ads in the DFW area right now. I get a couple calls a month from those ads.

As other have mentioned you could spruce up your web site however I strongly suggest you do a few other things first.

    1. Go to themeforest.net and look for html "landing" pages. You can find a crap load on there for less then $15 bucks.

    2. Do some keyword research and find out what type of computer problems people are looking to solve.

    3. For each problem you find that people are searching for create a landing page SPECIFIC to solving that problem.

    4. Write an ad/s (several ads) specific to the problem so it matches the topic/problem of the landing page.

    5. Spend your money get new customers.

Right now your web site home page doesn't specifically target any particular problem so people do see you as the solution and that's what you want with PPC.

Now you have the basics for creating a successful PPC campaign.

P.S. Make sure your landing page has no more then two ways people can take action. Phone you, or enter a name and email.
