Have you considered offering this service to local biz owners?

Hey folks,

To this day, I'm convinced there's no better service to offer local business owners than LIST BUILDING.

Email marketing works just as good as it ever did. There's tons of supporting case studies and other evidence online, along with common sense as to why:
  • Repeat sales
  • Save money on advertising
  • Build deeper loyalty and trust
  • Instant cash flow
  • Cheap customer research and testing

My question is, have you ever sold a list building service to a local business owner? If so, I'd love to hear your story.

How much did you sell it for... what exactly did you offer as part of the service?

My idea of a good service would be:
  • Optin form integration
  • Creating or consulting on a freebie offer
  • Writing and delivering email follow ups
  • Measuring stats and reporting back

What do you think this is worth to a business owner? I mean, having a list they can promote monthly offers to?

Also, consider the creative ways you can charge them...

... charge a one time set up fee...

... or free set up and then charge them for every "promo" email they want to send out...

... etc. etc.

So, anyone done this, or something similar?

I'd love to hear how you did with it!

Cheers,
Nick

I have not tried this yet, but I've often though buying some cheap no-name android tablets and altering them so that the only screen they displayed was an email opt-in. Place these at the cash register/counter of offline businesses. Customers could then be offered an incentive to sign up. By entering the email themselves, it could reduce the incidence of typos when a clerk enters the customer's address in a database.

The great thing about using such a setup is that with the tablets, you could retain control of the list that you build even if the client cancels your contract. You could have all signups go directly to aweber, or just store them in the tablet's memory.
