Porn sold offline is still doing fine...as if you wanted to know

Bit of fun information which will be totally
not revalant to you.

With all the free porn online available,
it would be easy to think it's tough going
offline.

Not so for my client who owns a chain of adult only stores
across the country.

He is my biggest buyer of paper receipt rolls.

Maybe there are more dirty old men amongst us
than we think. Lol.

Best,
Ewen

Ewen, it could be a generational thing.

I wonder what the average age is of his customers?

I heard his radio ads to do with the book series
50 Shades Of Grey when it was on everybody's
      lips.

So it maybe a lot of women buying toys
and less of the dirty old man stereotype.

Are their any women in the house want to be
      tied up? Lol.

      Best,

Just a couple of days a ago my friend asked me to help
him move a gadget he built out of his garage.

After we did he points a flashlight towards the back and asks me if I want a desk.

Before i could answer he say "but not the tv" The tv was maybe a 13 inch
I could only see the back of it...

he follows up with "it has a vcr built in ... i need that for my collection"
I look at him and before I can ask ...
he lowers his eyes towards the floor and says ...

"uhmm uh ahhh uhh ... porn bro"

        He is only 37.

        Edit;

I should have mentioned he is a business owner. He does not use the internet
for pleasure or business. He has more kids then I can count. In his house
one computer fits all... it is old. His kids phones are faster then that dinosaur.

So to him it makes sense ... to you and me ... what ?

btw he is not a dumbass, he is probably more intelligent then 70% of the
other business owners I deal with.

        Sometimes what is ... is.

Even today. The internet is NOT the holy grail.

IMO, adoption of new tech has more to do with culture then it does with age. Albeit the young tend to indeed be more flexible.

Lee Kuan Yew recognized early on the benefits of IT infrastructure IIRC in the early/mid 90s and was the one who pushed it upon the conservative Singaporean banking establishment. The Canadian banks still had a lot of catching up to do in the 2000s.

I know many people in their mid-20s who are not as open minded about tech as that old man.

When the author is on prime time talk shows in the US
on a subject that once would of been taboo,
then you know it has become mainstream.

Women and their partners are going to be buying
blindfolds and handcuffs to turn the fantasy into reality.

          It's a natural progression.

If a pop star wears a certain hairstyle, their fans want it
          is an example.

So looks like my client is reaping the reward for this
          trend.

From a fellow Kiwi, offline is fine as long as they keep their shady practises at a distance..even residential is a nono, and locals have kicked up a stink.

Even online endevours and companies don't allow their wares to be sold..their can be a connotation of porn being the domain of dirty old men, the fact really that all ages are into it, and not just men either.

Ken, another interesting thing about him,
his checks almost always arrive in the mail
      before they are due.

His staff are more polite than many of
my other clients who run "respectable" businesses.

      Best,

There is a lot of success to be had offline in a lot of categories.

I think we can get a little myopic at times when it comes to seeing the Internet as being the only way to create success.

I see in your other posts you say you are making $40K a month. If so, why not contribute some of your wisdom instead of your snarky posts I've read?

The Main thing the "Porn" industry has done is...."be the Driving Force behind most of our Electronic Technology!"

When VCR's and Video Cams came out I asked a buddy (who owned 8 Video Rental Stores)....WHO developed these things? His answer was, "The PORN Industry"!

They had the best technicians and engineers....even better than the "Game" technicians....who created some great game boards mounted on the walls of my favorite PUBS where I'd "Zap" my completion in between Mics (Michelob)

The money in the "Porn" biz was.....and still IS....humongus!

And...."Porn" is still the easiest thing to get addicted to. Easier than booze, cigarettes and everything else.....the reason being is because ONCE you see it....it STAYS on a "Hook" in your memory.....coming out often where you are "FORCED" TO GET MORE!

2 of my buddies lost their wives and families to this terrible Addiction.

So....our Video and Cell Phone technology would probably have come along without it anyway BUT...."Porn" and the money it brought was the driving force that got the technology to us...sooner.

I know this isn't a place to discuss the morality of porn, but I agree that you shouldn't underestimate how additive it can be and how it can cause huge relationship problems.

Google trends shows porn interest has been increasing the past few years, do you think this has to do with the 50 shades effect? Sex toys seems relatively flat though..

I think the desire to not have stuff on the hard drive is a factor.

Also, the couples market as been trending upwards for a long while.

About 10 years ago I met a guy who seemed like a good business man
and father and he was married. He had a whole Penthouse(?) series
of DVDs in his downstairs living room bookcase with his non-porn DVDs.
