No. PR goes with pages. To increase the PR of a page, get tons of links from lots of sites, or a few links from high PR pages. Why do you care?

Hey, a website page rank depends totally upon the quality of backlinks and traffic. If you can manage to get good backlinks (of high PR than your site) and heavy visits per day, you might see change in your website page rank. Good luck.

      Hey Kushalmalik,
You are right. Page rank is based on a combination of the quality of your content, search engine optimization, links and viewership. Improving all of these aspects will lead to an increase in your rank.

you need to pay attention to the following tips:
    1. helpful content and update almost every day.
    2. make high quality backlinks.
    3. increase your traffic views.
    4. make nice SNS.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[8750908].message }}
    • It's all about the backlinks, it's all mathematics, it has nothing to do with the quality of the content. I wouldn't waste any time worrying about page rank, though. It hasn't been updated for many months, it may never be updated. In the SEO world they have all but abandoned it as a meaningful metric. Focus on domain and page authority instead.

3 to 4 month is enough to enhance the Pagerank (but not in these days as google has not updated their Pagerank algorithms since last 9 month). let me clear my point here. In case of building un-related links (to enhance the pagerank), Google may rectify that what you are trying to hit. In that case Google can ask for manual action, and you will be forced to kill your links.
I do agree without do follow links page rank will not travel. But what will happen if Google asked for Manual web spam action ?
Here I have my suggestion - You must play with internal linking stuffs, proper onsite stuff, link building with High quality content, and related places as well. while you are linking do not link on single keyword every time. You must follow the LSI method to link your webpage to insure the organic linking. If you are a webmaster ensure that your website is matching with Google Guideline.

    Hope it will help
    thanks

Page rank stopped working this year, it may be updated in the next year 2014 but most of the expectations says it can be some months later, for now, Page Rank is not updated since months, and it stay not updated until the next changes from Google, this is why many new blogs with great content and even with high Alexa traffic have unknown PR.

You should build quality backlinks to improve your website page rank. For that you should do off page activities like forum posting, social bookmarking, directory submission, article submission etc.

I'm also agreed with everyone. Website PR is depended on back-links and for that you need to do white hat seo.

As usual anytime questions come up about SEO it seems the thread will become useless because Google will redo its algorithm and everything will change. As of today's date 12/04/213, the question is "are backlinks still critical to PR?" It's a cruel irony that I think Google loves throwing the algorithm monkey wrench into the works after we spend countless hours getting quality high ranking backlinks. The good news is that if you acquire quality high ranking backlinks via white hat methods those links will still be counted but due to new changes there are other factors that Google looks for and you need to educate yourself on those new features. The best place to get that info is from Google itself. Don't rely on the ideas and concepts from anyone other than the Google if you want to do it right. Google won't tell you how they figure PR but they will give you guidelines as to what they expect. Do that and your a winner.

Uhh... yeah countless times. If you're talking about the PR toolbar that we can publicly see, yes, it has been updated today. Does that mean it is current PR? No.

What is interesting though, isn't the PR update at all... it is the power that subdomains now have. Very strange imo.

Buy expired domains that have a PR of 3-8 from websites that have NOT faked their PR. There's tools to check, just google "fake PR tool" and you'll have a number to choose from.

Buy 3-5 at at time, make sure to use a dedicated "C" class host. These guys have awesome prices for multiple IP's: Dedicated C Class Ip Hosting, Dedicated Class C Ip Hosting Each domain needs its's own IP.

Install a WP blog on them & create some great content & use about 700 words on the homepage.

Then, place a like from your new HIGH pr blogs to your website. You're rankings will go up in days and your page rank will follow shortly after.

Content has nothing to do with PR... almost everything in social media is nofollow when it comes to outbound links, so that's not going to affect PR...

You don't need tons of keywords, just few "do follow" links from high page rank pages will let you achieve a higher page rank. Its not about 2,3 months it when Google will update page rank, and last time the update was released after 11 months approx.

Don't worry about PR, Google has stopped considering PR in their ranking factors, All you worry is about content, Get great content and in turn it will bring you great links...Don't build links, Let it happen naturally..In this way you will get more trust from Google.

If nobody finds your site, no amount of great content will get you any links.

What does 'let it happen naturally' mean.

You either have to rank in the search engines for at least one keyword or you have to send traffic to your great content some other way. If 'naturally' means do nothing but write great content, you don't get traffic. If it means, email your list about the content, how is that different from getting people to your site through some other means, like getting other sites to link to your great content.

The problem here is that the question is off... unless you're building yourself a network of sites with high PR so as to link to your money sites from high PR pages and you believe that works.

In my opinion that anyone has a site should first think about the readers that are going to visit his/her site regardless the Google PR or site rank. The people that are going to visit the site are not computers and they can give the right judgment on this site and it can be recognized from the Bounce rate . To get Good PR you should work hard and post excellent content and keep updating your site.

PR increases if you have plenty of natural links, but it's been quiet some time that google has stopped updating PR.
You have to wait 6 months or may be a year to see any change in a site's PR.
