Steps to take after getting email leads?

Hi everyone,

First of all, I'd like to thank you guys - everyone here is amazing and I've learned a lot here. I hope I can contribute something to this forum when I am able to do so

So, I have been getting emails from interested potential clients for web design projects. I usually reply to their e-mails by asking for a phone number to contact, some reply, some don't. From experience what is the best step to take once you get that initial e-mail of interest from a potential client. Also, once you start talking to them, would it be best to send a questionnaire, show them previous work, etc? I know the process differs from client to client, but I was wondering if some of you can share your "typical" sales process, ie the steps you'd take after initial contact. This doesn't have to be in detail, just an outline. I am getting better, and I am practicing and working at it. I would be willing to buy a WSO if there is a good one for this

Depends on the type of product/service you're offering. I used to design ecommerce sites and would collect email leads from my website and from a forum. I had a pre-made canned message (slightly altered to each name and their project needs) I would send to every lead and based on their response would continue from that.

Thanks! Do you recommend sending a questionnaire?

Instead of emails, why not provide a contact form and in that way you can require a phone number.

        Pique their curiosity.

When you say "once you start talking to them" do you mean in an email response to their inquiry or when you've gotten to speak on the phone or do you mean further on in the sales process?

My short answer would be, a questionnaire up front is for qualifying prospects in the sense of having them do something and become more invested before you'll even speak with them (plus it gives you a few other advantages). A questionnaire as you proceed is more like an intake to uncover needs and make selling points.

I guess pre made canned message sometime looks like spam so its better to write a different message to different client so its looks like you are real and interested in working with them

If you're getting emails back WITH alternative ways to contact the prospects back in return...I'd definitely recommend a phone call.

Nothing is still as powerful as live interaction, in some way shape or form.

Of course be considerate and ask if its an ok time to chat or what time later works better.

    Hope that was helpful.

    Regards
