$997 From One Strategically Placed Ad

Hi Warriors,

Just wanted to share some New Year's inspiration and reinforce the momentum for myself.

I placed one ad on craigslist the other day after writing a sales letter that I slapped together as a training exercise and in a day it turned an unlikely profit...$997 dollars.

This is still work in progress with a very interesting client that I had not placed the ad for, however, such is the nature of Prolific Persistence.

Sometimes the booby traps you set have collateral damage, but the nice thing about establishing inbound marketing collateral is that you can then decide whether or not you want to work with the prospects instead of you doing the audition, the other way around.

Here is, in a nutshell, what I did:

1. Wrote a salesletter that addressed a need for a marketing alternative to all current market offerings
2. Placed it on Craigslist on the writing services section of my local area
3. Waited and answered the phone when the guy called.

I swear to you all....I do believe that if you simply "put it out there" you'll start seeing success.

Take action...put in a little sweat work and good things will happen.

Happy New Year and Make it Happen!

Regards

Los

I couldn't agree more! Lead gen is not that hard if you actually stick with something & put forth effort every day.

I could not agree more. I make it a habit of posting EXACTLY what I want in the strangest places and it simply works. Little local classifieds sites with ads targeting someone with a 5k+/month online marketing budget etc.. and I get replies and close deals. Funny is often these little one off posts are done while taking a break from building that monster sales funnel and the little post gets the results faster.

      So true.

In her book, "Get Clients" CJ Hayden talks about the "persistence effect" (I did a whole blog rant about this), and its so true how sometimes persistence pays off in so many unexpected ways.

It really is the small hinges that swing big doors... so many people are trying to swim with the current to catch the fish, but why not position yourself against the current and catch them as they come?

      @Thomasmp - I just replied.

Yes, I have to add my two thumbs up to this as well.

It's all about being in the right place with a good offer, but in order to do that you have to be willing to do the work to actuallly put up several offers in several places.

Do the work and it's amazing what can happen.

This post is so spot on. I just ran an ad on craigslist too. Just wanted to see what would happen. Three days later phone rings from a local company that operates world wide for a pretty unique service. Meeting with them on Thursday. They need a new website, seo, ppc set up and management and they want to start using videos to market and advertise their business. I think there is some big possibilities for direct mail too as well as database marketing. In other words this could turn out to be a really good client.

Ironically my ad does not talk about any of those things. Go figure.
