Hiring lead generator

How many leads can a lead generator do per hour?

How long should it be before an average lead generator starts showing results?

Is Odesk and Elance good place to find them?

This is for merchant services mostly for offline businesses.

2 -3 leads per day is about right for manual cold calling. That's interruption marketing. Getting them to call you is cheaper over the long run.

I heard that one of the big call centers here had a quota of 5 statements faxed/ sent weekly for CC processing but they have a reputation of putting a lot of pressure on their prospects(e.g. can't hangup the phone on a prospect.etc).

I'm actually considering odesk/elance/etc because of the obvious cost advantages but my big questions are:without the presence of a manager just breathing down people's neck, how will the people perform?

I think competent management makes a big difference in the # of leads generated and keeping the morale of the salespeople high. People simply don't make as much efforts without that.

Some people can do it from their own living room and it doesn't matter to them, but for most people, it's not the case and I'm afraid one would spend a lot of people sifting through applications (and paying for them to boot).

Do you, yourself know how to "generate leads"?

If you do not, then I suggest you do NOT hire anybody.
Learn how to do it yourself first.

    This is why;

Rooms that have a quota for app setting have reps that push through
leads that are not qualified ... because they have to make quota or get fired.

Rooms that don't have a quota have reps that are not that productive.
So they offer bonuses to increase productivity ... guess what that gets you.

More unqualified leads you pay for.

    Vicious circle.

To add to the mess ... if you get leads and you don't sell them.
You will think they are bad leads. The provider will blame you.

You will have no way of knowing if you are messing up, or they are.

A great way to get around most of that is learn how to do it yourself.
Learn how to qualify them. Learn what you need to know in order
to make them closeable and not just a warm body.

Now you are ready to hire some one else. You know what works
and what does not. It will save you a ton of time and money.

AND .... you will know how many calls per day to bring in
X amount of leads. So you will know the reality of the cost
vrs some salesperson selling you on how expensive there lead
    costs are.

and that is just the tip of the iceberg on why I suggest you
don't hire some one ....unless of course you do know how
to do it ... and do it properly.

    Just my 2 cents

    -edit
Or you can skip all the above and just learn how to sell on first contact.

Hire a lead generator from this forum.

Then, you will receive the right quantity, quality, price and delivery.
They will make sure to target the right market, keywords and conversions.

The best of those also offer consultancy in teaching client closing techniques for higher conversions on the phone.

    Regards, Lasse
