What to sell to this client?

So, I was working with a newspaper publishing director on his facebook campaigns to increase likes and engagement, paying me around $160/month.
I actually didn't find this client myself, he was introduced to me by a friend of mine, so I'm not sure I can get new clients because I'm scared of cold calling.

I though I can earn more from this client by selling SEO services. I tried to simplify the whole process of link building and its importance for his website ranking, but he doesn't seem to understand.

Is there anything else you think this client my need and pay $$$ to get?

  • When I explain SEO services, I take the client through the customer's point of view. Only at the search results page do I announce how companies actually get on that page. most people have used search engines so it seems an easy way to explain the value of SEO.
  • You're about to get some super advice from other members; I know this because I have great faith and respect in these erudite souls.

What I want to do is address this: "I'm scared of cold calling."

    Don't be.

Are you clever enough to make profit from a client? If the answer is yes, then never - this bares repeating: NEVER - feel scared, nervous, mildly apprehensive, or anything but so full of yourself that it's a constant battle to appear humble.

You, my friend, are the Golden Goose.

I like examples. Do you like examples? Let's have an example.

A local landlord rents apartments out for $1500 a month. We'll forget profit levels for a moment and just consider the $1500. Without your help, he rents out 4 apartments a month, earning him - of course - $6,000.

    But . . .

With your help, he can rent out a further 4 a month, taking his total up to - you guessed it - $12,000 a month.

Should you be worried about cold calling? Or . . . should you walk in to his office, take a seat, smile, and hold a twinkle in your eyes that suggests you've either just inherited $89 million from batty auntie May, gained a supernatural ability to accurately pick lottery numbers, OR hold the knowledge that will make the person in front of you a heck of a lot richer?

So my advice to you: always remember that clients need you way more than you need them.

  • What does your client already have, in terms of marketing systems/funnels?
What does your client want to accomplish, exactly?

    • Thanks everyone for your responses!

Well, he only have a facebook page directing fans to his website (electronic version of his newspaper).
Not sure, he want to increase facebook audience which I'm helping him to achieve. And he want his website alexa rank to go down. I told him it can't decrease overnight, and that it needs monthly work including social optimization and link building, but he didn't seem to like it. I didn't even mention the service price..
