I am looking to sell leads to an auto glass business owner

    Question, are you getting leads via opt-in form or via a call tracking number? I don't have any auto glass clients but if you're getting leads that are qualified I'm sure I can find a buyer pretty quickly.

    Might be best to just call some auto glass companies and ask if they are taking on new business. Send them leads for a week, then call them back and ask if they would like to get new leads like that every week for X dollars. If you are doing 50 per month, should be fairly easy to sell.

    Be prepared though, many will not be interested if you delivered $100 bills every day to their front door step. Nature of the offline beast.

        Maybe its time to consider opening up your own auto glass business! With 50 leads coming in per month, that's a great start.

        Its amazing how stupid business owners can sometimes be. No wonder so many go OUT of business in the first 5 years.

        I have been offered such leads, in the mortgage business. I said no.

        They talked about number of leads vs cost and future income.

        But they did not know a darn thing about our requirements or conversion rates.

        I want loans from $200k and up. A $150k loan is perfect for a lot of people. We've decided it's not for us. Unless it's for a property worth over $200k or the borrower has other properties worth over 200k.

        We don't want reverse mortgages. We don't want construction loans.

        We want commercial loans, but only churches and apartment buildings.

        They were offering mortgage leads of all kinds and didn't know how many (percentage wise) were churches or 200k and up.

        For all I knew, I'd have to pay 10 years worth of leads to get one like the ones I wanted.

        Then, there was the question of trust. Complete stranger calls and I'm supposed to trust. Why?

        I turned down an SEO company yesterday too. And they had proof that they could dominate page 1 for several keywords for an area just like mine.

        But I wanted 3 hours to decide (do some due diligence). They insisted they could keep the spot open for only 1 hour.

        So, I said no.

    I'm not sure what service you are using for the number, but when I managed apartments we advertised with the Apartment finder book and website. They did not charge per lead, but every time someone called from their ad we would hear "Another lead from Apartment Finder...Please repeat your greeting."

    If you can set up your number to announce the leads then if you point it to someone after a week or two when you call they are going to know who you are!

      I like and second the idea of searching out multiple businesses that may be a franchise or chain. The leads can be split up among them. Worth the effort especially in a city as huge as Chicago. Yikes!

    Instead of trying to sell leads and being paid per lead, you may want to consider "renting" your system/method to a business on a monthly basis.

    Depending on the facts (price per lead, conversion, profit margins, etc) a business owner may be more inclined to pay you x per month for all leads that your system/method produces than to pay you y per lead with a certain number of the leads not converting.

            Ahhhh....the 'ol auto glass leads. I remember when I had two websites pulling in leads for this (and it was for replacement, not repair) via calls and emails - but mainly calls.

            As you've discovered, and xlfutur1 has also pointed out, the problem is not getting the leads, its finding someone to buy them. I looked around for Auto Glass affiliate programs too - and there was only one. It paid CHUMP CHANGE for a lead (literally like $0.50 per lead (quote). They were willing to pay a who $8 IF they got the sale :rolleyes:

            In the end, I just sold my websites and move on to niches that were willing to pay for leads.

        Do you not know that how things are packaged can often make a BIG DIFFERENCE in results? I can easily see where someone may pay you a flat fee each month, but will not pay you on a per lead basis.

        If my suggestion is correct, and I am not saying that it is, but if it is correct, then it may be much easier to find and get a buyer for your leads.

        Would there be a way for you to further qualify the leads?...even so much as taking a request for quote from them? This, giving you a measurable value for that given lead. ( kind of as the role of broker....even if it was only until you snag a permanent taker for all your leads)

        Do the different local glass companies know that those forwards came from you?...and that you are randomly directing 50 leads amongst their competitors?.

        In my opinion it is to your advantage for these glass companies to know who you are and what you are doing, if your goal is to acquire one permanent, or even a consistent set of lead buyers.

        Dude, I called a lot of the auto glass shops in the Chicago area in an effort to help you. A lot of them it appears you had already either emailed or called because they had asked me if we'd already called before.

        One owner was kind enough to answer some questions for me and it turns out that a high percentage of the leads they get comes in the form of leads for free from insurance agents / companies and auto dealers.

        Additionally the life time value of a single client isn't that much and unless some one is having all the passenger windows and the front and rear windows replaced the average dollar per customer isn't that much. Hell even my BMW 750 windshield only cost me 300 bucks when I had it replaced a couple of years ago.

        Out of that 300 bucks, "IF" we could get a shop to pay for leads it isn't going to be more then $10 bucks if that.

        I'm still willing to help you but we need to target a higher ticket item.

          Have you tried to rent your web site for a monthly fee?
          You could offer a GUARANTEE with NO Contract.
          I am sure this would get them to listen.
          Offer to switch your call tracking number to them so they would get EXCLUSIVE leads.
          Tell them it would cost $250 per month with a GUARANTEE they get 25 call average per month or they only pay $10 per call if less then 25.
          Let them know there is NO contract and can stop using at then end of any month.
          You profit margin in auto glass is pretty low and I know they get a lot of leads from insurance companies but since you already have the leads coming in you should try your best to make some money.

    So after a quick read of the thread and a look at your video koubain on youtube....here are a few quick things..

    First of all, 24 hour auto glass repair is an extremely low price point market with even lower recurring customer value. I just got 3 chips repaired on my new dodge dart for $20 bucks a chip. Even a replacement is only a few hundred bucks. Then there is no reason for me to "really" go back to that business for quite a long time if at all. SO the customer value is quite low.

    The second thing is you are targeting such a generalized term that you can not nail down a specific service to target, get leads and get paid for. Since you can not tell if the lead is for a glass chip repair($20 bucks) or a complete wind shield replacement on a Lamborghini (glass costs a minimum of $3500 without the labour)...your leads are not worth more than the lowest customer value.

    Lastly, you placed the video onto a personal channel instead of a channel all by itself, so your exit plan is quite limited. You can not even sell the video/channel to a local company because the channel is not branded well and it is not separate from other videos in different niches. IF you would have placed it on a branded channel called Auto Glass Repairs In Chicago, then you could easily have an exit plan to sell the channel plus ranking video to a local business for $500 bucks.

    So you can do 1 of 3 things....either sell the leads for $5 bucks a lead since you can only sell at the lowest common denominator for the leads(chip repair) OR you can just do a flat rate of $89, $169 or even maybe $250 a month for a business to lease the video OR you use the video as a stepping stone for SEO/Video marketing for businesses(showcasing your success).

    Not much more to say about this since it was not really thought through very well and as a result, it is difficult to "easily" monetize.

      I think companies with a higher ticket sales will buy leads and pay more...like roofing, kitchen remodeling

      I think you should try to find one auto glass place and offer "marketing" to them....brand the site with their name, link it to their site, get paid to oversee...email marketing, update their social media, offer whatever else you can do

      Dealing in the real world of small businesses is not as easy as some here would have you think, I agree that many just don't want to spend the money or do not have it. Again a reason to go for higher priced niches.

      If you get leads for "oil change" ...by the time the company pays you for the lead they have to add that on....and the guy down the street will undercut them as he is not paying for a lead.

      Larger ticket items...yes....smaller? well IMHO better to bundle as marketing, or lease or sell the site totally
