Is hiring a sales rep the right thing to do?

As I'm moving to an English country, I want to start offer digital marketing services there. I already have an income from my freelance business. So i thought the first step in the right direction is to hire a sales rep with great business network.

And hopefully I'll get new clients in a reasonable amount of time.

Do you think it's a good way to start?

I think it's every business owners dream to delegate lead generation & sales over to a rockstar sales rep BUT the problem is, nobody will take it AS serious as you. (in my opinion). So before you delegate to someone else, you need to master this craft yourself. That way you can train your sales rep properly and give them the tools they need to do their job. You'll see much better results this way.

    Been there done that.

What has REALLY worked for me is to seek out traditional advertising agencies who sell radio/TV airtime. Few are SEO/PPC/Social capable and are in need of a solid, dependable provider to outsource that work to.

I got lots of small, high-maintenance annoying clients when I started my SEO business and contracted with a few rock star sales reps.

But it is advertising agencies who bring in the $20,000/month clients, the agency interfaces with them, they're enterprise-level clients so they're low maintenance, and best of all you do ZERO selling once you've made the relationship with the ad agency.

In fact I just spent most of today with my lead SEO guy, meeting with a very large agency and it looks like we'll be moving forward.
