Super Stars,

I have watched this guy go from a Nobody to a Highly sought after
Business Pro over the last 2 years. I was on his list when he was
just starting and still am. It led me to this...

Fear has a tendency to paralyze people into doing nothing, it cause over analysis, inefficiency, confusion and non action. This is a killer video on Fear. Why? Because the average person lets fear control their business.

How to Overcome Fear - YouTube

Conqueror your internal fears, which is nothing more than your mental reality and you can accomplish anything. Just look at the Olympians right now... They go through hell to be the best for a Medal!

What do you guys think?

  • As fear pertains to calling and prospecting (I think the biggest reason for failure), Jason Kanigan has it nailed: Its just limiting beliefs that reside in our own minds that cause head trash (aka fear).

Not only that, he tells you how to overcome it: have realistic expectations going into it. On average 75% ofbyour dials will lead nowhere -- so knowing this you can expect just a few conversations out of many dials. Now there is no reason to feel rejected and fear that perception because it isnt really rejection. Its just the realities of prospecting for business.

    • UPDATE: I was personally tracking this video, the content delivery is awesome. In the first 2 hours this video received 400 views with 40 comments, that's a 10% engagement metric.

In the first 24 Hours - 7500 Views with 86 comments. All this traffic comes from his lists and from social media referrals.

I highly encourage warriors to look at the delivery of the content in this video, there are not a lot of people out there getting a 10% Content engagement ratio.

  • I don't think it's fear.

I think it's lack of belief.

The month begins with some enthusiasm. The newbie puts some effort in. Things are not as easy as they thought. The "push button - make money" system they were taught doesn't work as advertised. They give up. The middle of the month comes and goes. Newbie does nothing because, hey, there are still a dozen days left in the month and something could magically come up.

    Nothing does.

Month-end approaches. Newbie begins working furiously to get some business again. They do--just enough to pay the bills and survive. Then the enthusiasm from that success quickly fades again as they fall back into their comfort zone.

The truth is that many people are not cut out to run their own business. The economy has put them in the position where they think they have to, or they've fallen into the position of chasing the magic of push button riches. But deep down, they don't truly believe it will work for them. And so they put minimal effort into it.

Burchard has put effort, effort and more effort into himself and his business. I've also been following him for a couple years...since after he got some fame but before things really took off. I bought some of his books. One if his early videos gave me the idea that turned into my first product. You have to believe, not stick your toe in the water and wonder if it'll turn out for you.

When you get into a swimming pool, do you wade in slowly or jump? When I was a little kid, I have to admit I was a wader-inner. As an adult, I know better: I get in as fast as I can and dunk. Yeah the first few moments seem freezing. But after that it's more comfortable in than out.

    • Jason - did you just steal this off my Desk Top? Excellent way to post up for newbies and give them some insight. I like to think it's this...
      Fear of Being Successful...

Glad to see someone else has been following Brendan here besides me, he puts out some pretty cool content on a consistent basis. I could not agree more that he has put in massive amounts of effort and time. People can surely learn from that one aspect alone.

  • I don't think it's fear or lack of belief.

I believe it's not following through with a method or system before it has a chance to work and the person just buys the next awesome sauce product and the cycle continually repeats itself.

With my first biz (Burglar ALarms) I hired sales people and I discovered something weird.

If the most a sales person ever made (selling anything) was $1,500 a month ..... they would get to $1,500 and Stop, with my program It was like they hit a "mental wall".

However....if a salesperson had, at one time in their career, made $50,000 or more "Shining Shoes"....no matter what they've been making lately.....they WOULD make $50,000 or more with me.

      It was uncanny.

With the many projects I've started....I call it, "Failing Forward".

When I sold my Alarm Biz I never again wanted employees or sales people. I knew I had the ability to make $100K and more. I knew what it "felt like".

So....I'd get any idea for a project, do a little research....make up a Demo or Sample and....."put my head down and CHARGE FORWARD!

Sure, I've had my share of failures BUT....I've also had some great successes being a "One-Man-Band".

Example; One of my successes was a "Welcome" program that involved sending a Refrigerator Magnet to New Comers (Mostly Home Buyers)

This "Magnet" had "Phone Numbers" a "12 mo Calendar" and an alphabetical listing of biznesses and medicos interested in contacting New Movers.

I did this back in 2006 when I first saw Magnetic Sheets that could be printed on. I was going to set this up again because I noted an increase in House Sales in my area.

      I had lunch yesterday with 2 buddies who are successful real estate sales guys (Doing some research into my New Neighbor project) They both agreed on 2 things;
      1) Over half of the refrigerators, these days (especially new Home Buyers) are Stainless Steel. Which magnets won't stick to.
      and....
      2) Almost all home buyers these days are into "Mobile".

So.....what do people like me do when coming upon an "obstacle"? We look for ways AROUND it.

In this case, my "Goal" is to reach people buying Houses and introduce them to Biznesses and Medicos who'd like to reach these Home Buyers.

So....I will be setting up a "Mobile Directory" and mailing LARGE PostCards
..... with info about why they should go to my "Mobile Directory" to get Special Discounts and Offers.

The BIG PostCard will also have a QR Code to Scan to easily and quickly get to my Mobile Directory.

Participants will be given an "Exclusive" in their niche and pay a Monthly Fee.

As far as I know, there is nothing like this....yet! At least in my area. So, I'm setting up....making Samples and will be "plowing ahead" and making adjustments as I go.

My old saying is; "Ya Never Know, Unless'n Ya Try!"

    • Answer me this, then...

Why do they buy the next magic beans system?

      My answer:

Lack of belief that the last thing was actually going to work for them. Toe-testing.

IMO we are talking around the sides of the same thing. Let's explore it a bit more and see what we find.

  • I think the reason for failure is often unrealistic expectations, and constantly searching for the next, best "magic button.". Easy, fast paydays are so often advertised in the copy of IM products, that many beginners expect to start making big bux in no time, with little effort.

When they try a product or a method, and fail to see big results quickly, they assume the method doesn't work. They give up, and move on to the next shiny object.

If fear were the issue, I don't think there would be so many new top-selling WSOs. I think unrealistic expectations, lack of dedication, and a "money for nothing" mindset are the most common reasons for failure.
  • Most people don't have fear of anything. They are just too lazy and want to make money in this industry without putting the effort into it. They are not willing to do what ever it takes.

When your fear becomes what life would be like if you don't succeed and take massive action, you tend to do what ever it takes for how long it takes to succeed.

    • Some sharp answers so far.

At the beginning of any money making endeavor..or learning any skill...

At first, you put in tons of effort, and get little in return. In any race, the most energy is spent starting the forward momentum. I call it the "Everything you do ends up looking like shit" stage.

And marketing is complex, anti-intuitive, and takes time to learn.

People nearly always quit before they build any momentum at all. And then they try something new...meaning they have to start over.

The reason beginners make no money is because 99% of everything they do is wrong. And it's discouraging. And when you jump from thing to thing, you never get better than that "99% wrong" stage.

After many years, I still do my marketing about 70% wrong. But I cut my losses quickly, and repeat the 30% that works.

At least that what I'm posting here.
