Working with competition - Win-Win ideas?

I have a health wellness activity that my competition already has but in a different way. I figure with his 30 years of business and local reputation, it can help my brand new business get off the ground. I was thinking of offering free education and product at his business. Any ideas that will create a win-win? Thank you in advance.

Have you tried approaching him with the opportunity already?

If not, try asking him if there's any way you can help /him/ and then get around to the idea of a joint venture or cross promotion. If you have any marketing skills at all you might be able to bring something to the table that he doesn't have yet.

Avoid doing it entirely free unless/until you have some kind of funnel setup that will get $ out of the deal. What often happens with free is you waste time and effort, probably losing money instead of making any.

Even better, modify what you're doing based on his situation and offer to supplement his business, then pay him 20-50% commission on results.

Bottom-line, win-win comes about through conversation. The only "formula" is value-for-value. Look for ways to complement each other's service and products, track the results.
